i have been doing pics with a guy for like a year now and i do whatever he wants even when its a little farther than i really want to go.... he keeps saying he's going to get me a real fashion shoot or help me get a modeling contract or something but he just puts it off every time. how do u really get into modeling? should i keep doing pics with him (he's REALLY good at it!!!) or do something else?

thanx

You have to look amazing to be a model, its not something just anyone can do. High cheekbones are very important in modeling. There's different types of modeling, do you want to be a runway model? Of so, you have to be skinny and tall and have good cheekbones. Wanna me a beach type model? You have to have good boobs and a good figure. Even the models for Target or Wal-Mart have high expectations and specifications.

Just because you do whatever the photographer wants doesn't mean you are a good model. There's a certain way to model has to engage the camera.

You must have perfect complexion, a fit looking body, symmetrical features, and a well proportioned body.

Edit:
Alright, I just looked at your profile and you look amazing. I definitely think you could be a model.

You need to confront him and tell him he needs to pull his weight and start getting you jobs, or you need to find someone else. I don't know what "going far" means, but if it's nudity, or sexual then he's exploiting you and you need to move on, especially since you are underage. Ask for you pictures, research online how to create a folio, and take control of it yourself. Get your parents involved, I'm sure they can help.

Look into modelling agencies in your area, there are usually some. It really depends on the kind of modelling you want to do (high fashion, runway, catalogs etc). There are online modelling agencies too that will display you picture. Don't sign up to these without a little research first though, be cautious because not everything is real.

Be careful, and good luck. :)

It's not exploiting, she's an adult. Technically, its an agents job to get modeling jobs not a photographer.

Her sidebar thing says 18, but her description says 16. She's a minor.

Description is more recent, and the sidebar is often faked in case she had to have parents permission to join, or couldn't join if under 18.

Didn't notice the age on the sig.

In this case, it seems like her photographer, IS her agent.

Yeah, if he's saying this stuff to you, you've got to be really upfront and say it's all or nothing. You can't keep doing his bidding in hopes he's going to keep up his end, you need something concrete otherwise he's wasting your time.

I mean, agent would be great. Otherwise, you may want to look into ModelMayhem when you're 18. Put some of his best pictures on your profile and try to make connections with other members, whether they're photographers, makeup artists, etc. Just put yourself out there in any way you can until you've got a substantial resume.

The little I did was with my ex who was studying photography, but of course he was there for me and doing his part.
