I made a thread earlier about coming out on Facebook and how I was going to do it tonight. The only problem? I'm scared as hell, but not about people disapproving (firstly, I don't expect anyone to, and two, I'd just be like 'well fuck you then'). I'm scared of people *over* approving. I don't want to discuss it with my classmates. I don't want to be praised for what I'm going to say. I mean... I want to get them a "wow, that's really powerful" out of them, but I don't want them coming up to me being either like:
"Hey Patrick, that takes a lot of courage. That's really good of you. blablabla," because I know that'll turn into them saying "so how longdid you know you were bisexual?" "Are you sure you're not gay?"
or...
"OMG OMG OMG PATRICKKKKKKK I LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT, OK?" <333 *hugs*
I just want people to know, maybe like my status, but that's it. I would die from embarrassment. :(
Please help convince me, or convince me out of doing this.

Maybe a huge coming out isn't what fits your interests?
Mine was very low-key too. It was casual. Sure, it happened over time because of that, but pretty much no one has ever made a big deal out of it, except the initial reaction from my cousin who was amazingly supportive, but has said nothing since.
Basically, my mates found out as it became relevant in conversation. Like one asked me about my ex, what happened between us, and I just told her I realized I really wasn't into guys. I think I had to have the same conversation with her twice to get it into her head, but she figured it out and just said, "Oh, that's cool."
Other people have found out on topics like "Have a boyfriend/guy you like?"

I did end up posting a status about it on Facebook last night ( I still refuse to merely log in to Facebook :P ), but thank you very much for your input.

Pat, I saw that status and I must admit it quite creative, you used a brilliant analogy. Congrats.
