I'm 16 and a junior in high school, and i had my first period about a year ago. Since then i have had about 3. As of now, that last one was 5 months ago. I'm an avid soccer player and was wondering if thats the reason why its so inconsistant. I was also wondering if this would affect my sexual arousal? Please help!

I doubt that any sport you play affects your periods. And no, that wont affect your sexual arousal

its certainly possible. i do remember reading about periods being affected by a persons fitness. but i also know that after the intial period, it can take some time for them to become regular, so it could even be just that. i don't know of any reason why playing sport would affect sexual arousal.

but would not having my period in so long affect sexual arousal?

i don't think so because i know of some girls here on vt saying they have orgasmed before starting periods, so i would have to say no.

Well actually it's been found that women can get more aroused during their period (this is plain nature; women want to have sex when they are about to produce an egg). But periods can be very inconsistent while you still have a while for puberty to take its course. Athletics shouldn't majorly affect anything.

It takes awhile for periods to become regular. Irregular periods will not effect arousal.
Very heavy exercise will effect regularity, but it's difficult to determine if what you're experiencing is the result of that, or just the irregularity of puberty. At 16, though, it's probably worth talking with your mom about, and maybe discussing with your doctor.

I'm willing to bet that it's indeed because you play soccer. I know girls who run track or play sports whose periods aren't as often as most or have even stopped [they come back during off-season]

I do a lot of athletics and my periods are very irregular which can be annoying but it's nothing to worry about
