In other words, do you listen to sad music when you're depressed/upset, or upbeat music when you're energetic, and so on?
I do notice that I do listen to sad music when I'm depressed.

Of course. Some music makes me smile and giggle, some makes me silent and just think. Music can influence my mood more than anything. Whenever something happens or is going to I like to play appropriate music to amplify it.

Most of the time my mood depends on what i'm listening to.

Sure. When i'm sad, i play sad songs, and when i'm happy i play something catchy and fast. Just like everybody else.

Definitely. If a song doesn't make you feel a certain way, it's not really doing it's job. But yeah, I can be in a great mood and then a certain song comes on and it make me sad. Or the other way around.

Definitely. I listen to upbeat stuff when I'm happy (unfortunately rarely), melancholy stuff when I'm sad/depressed (about 1/3 of the time), and really dark and aggressive music when I'm pissed (unfortunately about 2/3 of the time. I get angry so easily *sigh*) But yes, I listen to music that conveys my mood at the time.

Without a doubt it does in mine. I'm never really sad and I will listen to sad music at times when I am happy. There's music in my life all day and night, I like to crank it up and get real energetic in the evenings and then when it's time to chill, calm things down. I don't go through many mood swings, but it still controls how I feel, or at least controls the mood I want to feel.

Nah. Haven't done that for years. I'd rather not encourage the depression.
Usually my music categories go more like "morning," "afternoon," "evening," "night," regardless of the mood that you'd associate with the music. I listen to any music with any mood.

All of my music is fast-paced and catchy; I really only listen to dubstep, techno, speedcore, and certain kinds of pop. When I'm happy, it makes me happier, and when I'm sad [which is rare] it kind of... 'resets' my disposition. Actually, all of the music I listen to is made by the same person: Renard.

The music effects my mood a tad bit, but my mood decides the music more so

you bet. adele's skyfall makes me think i'm more superior to others and it makes me want to wink at every person i come across. don't know why but maybe it has to do with me being hurt and sometimes to show that i am human and that i have feelings i just hold up high in front of everyone else. maybe.
just wish i could shut off adele permanently.

Yeah, I always listen to sad songs. They help me think more. Like today during study hall I kept being reminded to do my homework because I was trying to write my stuff for an if you really knew me video on my tablet instead.

when i am feeling sad or low in mood, i listen to Beethoven, for some reason it makes me feel lighter, happier and more energetic. though i get bullied in school for listening to Beethoven, but i don't care, it is music at its most pure.

When I'm upset i tend to listen to sad depressed songs as apposed to if I'm happy then i listen to upbeat songs. However, sometimes when I'm sad i also listen to upbeat songs so i can cheer myself up.

I listen to music that describes my life. I always feel some sort of "connection" to the songs I listen to. I, very frequently, listen to Unwell by Matchbox 20. Well, just about anything from Matchbox 20.

Occasionally.
I actually don't have a satisfctory answer for that: I just know when I'm happy, i'm more likely to listen to happier music, and same goes for sad...whether its the music influencing my mood, or my mood influencing the music, whos to say?
