View Full Version : Thigh Gap

I know a lot of girls are obsessed with having a thigh gap. What exactly would qualify as having one? Is it a gap when you're standing with your feet together or knees together, because that is a big difference.
Also, do you have one/ do you think it's important?

I assume it's feet together. Having knees together is ridiculously pointless, so feet has to be the more logically answer. I don't have one, I don't care that I don't either. I think having a thigh gap is a fucking stupid fad that's been picked up by a lot of girls, and they want it etc. However, I'm not one of those. Why can't people just see that they're beautiful/whatever in their own way, is beyond me. All a thigh gap proves is you're skinny as hell, and I personally don't think skinny girls are attractive.

I do agree. People need to feel beautiful on their own. But it's not easy when all the mainstream supermodels that are portrayed as beautiful have no bodily fat, are perfectly skinny, they are bony and just 'perfect'. Girls don't wanna have body fat, they wanna be considered perfect like the supermodels. In the media, a woman is pretty if she has a perfect chest, a little waist, and no thigh gap. Girls want to feel beautiful, and they feel the only way they are beautiful is if they lose all their body fat and look like these models and people in the media.
As a girl who's dealt with eating disorders my whole life, I know it's difficult to look at the fat on my arms or legs and think that's beautiful. It's not easy to accept one's looks if they don't like it. Or are told they're ugly.
I hope you understand a little better :)

I've never heard of anyone thinking about this before. I'm not sure why they would either.

Never even heard of it before, just googled it, not for me. I'm quite happy with who I am.

I hadn't heard about this before, so I had to look it up. All I got was a bunch of super skinny girls. :P
Not really my thing.

I've always heard of this as being called "Factory air" as in "She's equipped with factory air" *I assume its a reference to a car having an a/c unit from the factory*
A rather useless thing if you ask me. A normal healthy girl should look like women did 100-2000 years ago. This fad of being rail thin is disturbing.

This is not important to me either. I love myself just as I am. Didn't know there was a 'gap' fashion statement tho.

I'm not surprized most of the girls here have never heard of this term before and until I started daing my current bf I didn't as well and this is because it's something guys view as desirable in a girl. Not sure if girls are obsessed with this any more than they are with having a flat tummy and my understanding is it's when a girl stands legs together in a normal stance there is a space between the thighs. Again this something I feel is more important to most guys and not to the girls themselves at least as far as I'm concerened

It's funny most of us girls don't know about this tho it's us that have or don't have this "gap." I heard about it from one of my brother's friends. He said it's not just about being thin but I guess if a girl has that gap you can look right at her privates from the back. Her thighs don't hide that view but kind of frame it which is sexy.
A bit strange to me but considering it's a guy thing I guess nothings surprises me about this. Never really gave it much thought myself though I had those guys look and they said I had the gap, lol.

A thigh gap is when you have a gap, between you thighs, while feet together. Anyone can have a gap while legs apart.
A thigh gap is determined partly by how much fat you have on your legs, but mainly your bone structure. A lot of girls will never have one because of the shape of their pelvis and the placement of their leg joints.
It's not important, at all. It's romanticized too much and girls kill themselves trying to get one, when like I said, some girls will never have one. What does having one get you? Maybe no more friction/heat rashes, but other than that, what? Beauty? Humor? Intelligence? It's just an area o your thighs, it doesn't matter.
It measures nothing but your bone structure.
Any male who says a girl needs one, they are extremely shallow, and not worth your time, whether you have a thigh gap or not. If a boy measures your worth or beauty on one small area of your thighs, then you should avoid them and find someone who actually appreciates you as a person, not a piece of meat.

Don't we have enough problems without worrying whether we've got a gap between our thighs?

I suppose I have a small one but I don't look like those discusting google pictures. I do know that tight pants or leggings can make it more visible but really why would you want to? I wear a long shirt when I wear leggings or jeggings.

It's from the modeling industry I thought - unhealthily skinny legs with no shape/flesh on them
I just asked my brother and he said maybe some guys like it as it would show off cameltoe more

its when there thighs are touching, thats why its called a thigh gap, because there is a gap between the upper thighs

a true thigh gap or box gap is caused by a girl who is fit and does a lot of glute exercises so they have a nice ass. Also it is easier for a guy to put his dick into her vagina, two reasons why some men obsess over them

I personally have one, and I have been working on having one. To me, being thin shows you are mentally stable and not controlled by food and being lazy. I know people who would agree thats why thigh gaps are desirable.
I think they are pretty, but for myself not for partners

I'm surprised more people haven't heard of it. You must not have tumblrs :P

I think most people would disagree and say it shows mental instability, because it's often associated with anorexia. There's being thin, and then there's being outrageously thin.
I think it looks kind of gross to be honest, but I find curves sexy. Before the couple of guys in this thread, I've never heard a guy call a thigh gap sexy. Much to the contrary actually. I've heard quite a few guys say it's weird and that they just worry she's anorexic.

Fixed. It's not about being fit, as most of the girls that have them are unhealthily skinny.

that is not a true box gap then, it is just a girl with really skinny legs, which is undesirable no matter what.

I thigh gap is when your feet and knees are together, and your thighs aren't touching. You have to have really skinny legs to achieve that, and even then, some girls just can't.
And to Tiny Dancer, I guess I should have said most older girls, as I'm sure a lot of younger girls can do it without being unhealthy, but once you're an adult, you shouldn't be that skinny. I only know a few girls that have it and they're all underweight.

First off, being thin has NOTHING to do with mental stability.
Second, to achieve a "thigh gap", most girls have to be unhealthily thin.
Third, did some guy really just say it makes it easier to get his penis in? Really? Are you trying to have sex when your girl's legs are together? That's easily in the top 5 most retarded things I've ever heard on here.

Personally, I don't think having a thigh gap is that important. Having one or not is not more attractive than the other. Neither is really healthy or unhealthy.
On Tumblr, they make a joke out of it, really, because having one shouldn't matter.

Apparently running tones my legs enough to achieve this somewhat - maybe not an unhealthy modeling thing after all?

the only possible use i can see is to keep your legs from chafing and rubbing when you're in a skirt, beyond that its downright unnecessary and probably unhealthy too if you have that little fat
