Just saw a very interesting program about the Clintons, of course it had a segment about Hiliary's 2008 campaign and it just got me wondering since Obama only has one term left until he has to leave who would get the democrat nomination for 2016. Also read an article about Christie, the governor of New Jersey who is rather Large, and a potenial canidate for the republicans
So the question I put out to you is...
1) who do you reckon will get the Republician and Democrat Nominations for the 2016 elections.
2) Who would you like to get the Nomination?

Christie has said in the Oprah interview that he will not be running for the presidency. I'd like Mike Huckabee or Newt Gingrich.

HUCKABEE? The guy that would set this nation back so far socially we'd be stuck up our own ass TWICE? Gingrich is scum, but hell, Huckabee is a social conservative fear monger who ran last time on religious grounds.

I would love to see Rubio vs Clinton, would be interesting since Rubio would probaly carry Florida and get a good chunk of the Hispanic vote.
And Gingrich seems like he has done some good work as a congressmen but he seems a bit too right wing for me. Huckabee seems like a bit of a religous crackpot to me.

It's going to be Rubio v O'mally in my opinion.

Clinton said that she's retiring from politics. So you won't see her in 2016. But it's really way too soon to legitimately start discussing who the nominees will be. At least wait until after the next Congress is sworn in in 2015.

Kirstin Gillibrand is really popular within New York and has presidential potential. Elizabeth Warren has been mentioned several times. Joe Biden will undoubtedly run.

Pretty much all of these except for Biden and Bush. I doubt either of them would get much support, especially Jeb (even though he's arguably the smartest Bush).

I know what she's said, I'm just not giving up until the day comes. I really fucking want Hillary. I'm glad a democrat is in office and everything, but I prefer Clinton to Obama one hundredfold.

Biden or Clinton. I'd support either. But none of the others especially Huckabee.

I would like to see Hillary run, she was a fantastic Secretary of State! She is great at what she does and is pretty good at helping resolving conflicts overseas.

Hispanics tend to vote more based on issues rather than the actual candidate. So automatically stating that Hispanics would vote for Rubio just because he's Hispanic is not true - especially if his immigration views aren't all that favorable with illegal immigrants. I'm Hispanic and I can honestly say that, with his current political views, I wouldn't vote for him if he got the nomination in 2016.

I'm Libertarian, so yeah.

Isn't that something of an oxymoron?

What is that where you value the Constitution highly and believe that there should be a smaller government?

Yes, that's about it. I also tend to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal. In other words, I don't believe government should waste our money, nor do I believe they have any business whatsoever interfering in people's private lives.

I do agree with you there, well in line with British policies. Social liberty e.g gay marriage, pro abortion, pro religious freedom. Whereas I think that our economy needs to be handled with care

I can't help thinking that all the careful handling is what's managed to get us all into this economic mess we're in. I don't know about there, but here the best and fastest way to totally fuck something up is to involve the government.

I like Christie, Rubio and Clinton. Not really into the party system, so we will leave it like that.

I don't know if Christie will get the party support. It would be interesting to see if the pro-business side of the GOP split off and became more libertarian on social issues. Clinton or Cuomo would kill Rubio. Jeb's last name is tarnished and his flip flop on immigration is bad news. It'll be interesting to see what plays out in the next 2 years until the campaigns really get started again.

My parents are Republicans, and they were contributors to Romney's campaign, whom I supported for most of the campaign as well. But, to be honest, some of the remarks he made toward the end of the campaign, especially during the debates, turned me off both from him, and the GOP in general.
In 2016, I'll be able to vote, so I guess I'll need to think long and hard about it.
I still think I'm closer to Republicans than to Democrats, but honestly, I was kind of happy that Obama won. Who knows what would have happened with Romney...
The 2012 race was the first election I really tuned in for, and I took part in everything from the Iowa Caucuses up to Election Day. So, needless to say, I'm more familiar with the Republicans than the Democrats.
I've actually met Chris Christie at a New York fundraiser for the Romney campaign, and I thought he's a pretty cool guy. I know the likability factor shouldn't matter, but it does. That's how a lot of past Presidents have been elected, and that's how countless more will get elected. People shouldn't care about whether or not the candidate is a nice guy. They should care about his policies, the promises that he's making, and the track record he has behind him.
Christie, despite being a Republican, was elected in New Jersey, and most people there still love him. He proved that he cares for his people during his entire term, but especially during Sandy. He bridged the partisan gap and defended the President from other Republicans who were attacking him at a time when Americans should be brought together.
That's why I think Christie would make a good candidate, and hopefully, a good President.
The most obvious candidates from the Democrats as of right now are Biden and Hillary. Biden hasn't been all that popular as VP, but I'm confident he'll still run. And he'll be to Hillary what Santorum was to Romney - a thorn at his side.
I'm not all that familiar with the Democratic base, so I don't feel qualified to make comments about them, but I'll still share my opinion on Hillary.
Like I said before, I'm a Republican, but if Hillary were to run in 2016, she'd definitely have my vote. She's one of the most powerful women in politics, and getting there is hard. She's been a great Secretary of State, always looking out for American interests, while maintaining a very civil relationship with the country on the other side of the table. And that's just what America needs right now. We don't need another President that pushes this country into another pointless war. We need someone who can get things done with talking.

likely democrats- Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Beau Biden, Andrew Cuomo, and Martin Omally
likely Republicans- Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, and unlikely but hopefully Dr Ben Carson.
Hillary better not win but she will most likely win. i hope either Rubio or Paul but if Ben Carson runs i will vote for Carson.
