Firewire PC Transfer?

Is there a way(application/software/program) that allows you to transfer files between two computers using a firewire cable?

I'm not sure if you can do that, firewire is for digital video cameras or some external HDDs mainly.

My understanding is that XP supports this by Default. What happens if you plug the two machines into each other?

if your using a mac, all you have to do it connect the two computers, restart the computer you want to transfer things from and hold down the T key.

Not using a mac, sry, but I have vista. I dont know if the teakxp thing will work. I'll give it a try.
