Speedo or Trunks?

I've always wanted to try wearing Speedos while swimming but I haven't got the guts to ask my mom for some. Should I stick with trunks or should I go for Speedos?

I don't think you need to ASK her. When she takes you shopping for a swimsuit, pick out a speedo. If she has a problem with it she'll say so. If you want to wear one, go for it. Personally, I'm not a fan of seeing them on guys, but what matters is if you're comfortable. Hopefully your mom will see that.

Like working at perfect said your best bet is to either straight up ask or go shopping with her and pick a pair up.or you could go out on your own and buy a speedo on your own. And I also agree it is up to you for personal comfort and preference but if you are trying to impress girls then probably not the way to go I'm friends with sooo many guys but I only know two who like guys in speedos.... Just thought I'd mention it if that was your reason if not then do it for you not for anyone else! X

If you're swimming in competition then you most likely will be wearing speedos. Boardshorts are much "safer" to wear in public just because. I guess they are more comfortable, too. Personally I like a guy in a speedo. No different than me wearing a bikini.

Speedos and trunks are both sort of revealing, I don't see how they could judge you for wearing speedos.

Hmm, I wear speedos for actual swim, other wise I wear my trunks. I find trunks are more comfortable for just hanging around enjoying the pool, than speedos. But if you want to go ahead. And I doubt your mom will really care if you ask her. My mom doesn't really care if I ask her for any type of personal stuff things.

Don't ask her for speedos, get them yourself. Nobody has to know you have a speedo. Just buy it yourself, try it on, if you like it wear it and if anybody has a problem they'll say something.

In my opinion speedos are the better joice for actual swimming as trunks slow you down. So I consider them sportswear.
But I get what you are concerned about. So if she asked you this might be a good argument around your mom.

I mostly wear trunks but went to the beach on vacation last year with my family and my friend's family. my friend and me each got a speedo. was much better for swimming. and it dries really quickly and allows more of your body to tan. I hate tan lines from trunks. I hate any tan lines actually

If yoy feel that you have to ask her then go ahead but I wear speedos for comp and rec swimming and hanging out at the pool. so do my brothers. They dry quicker and I find them more comfortable. Our parents buy all our clothes including the speedos and most of the time are with us when we go shopping, obviously they approve. Just avoind the "thong" business noone likes it even on the girls. As an aside we are all straight.

Sure the suits can fit tight for the race event BUT you do not have to downsize that much and even less downsizing for rec use. The fabrics do stretch and they fit great if a little careful.

I would go for the speedo. If thats too much why not compromise and get the square leg speedo. It's as tight as a speedo, but not as small.

Here's my view on this.

I think little kids can wear speedos regardless of when and where and its cute. Older boys and adults need to be more selective (sucks, but this is 2013 society).

1. Competition...no question, speedo/jammer is 100% appropriate.

2. Backyard pool...ok for trunks or speedo, can be fun, funny, or normal depending on the person, family, etc.

3. Beach...ok for trunks or speedo, can be fun, funny, or normal depending on the person, family, etc. (although I recommend having both as speedos are good for laying out/tanning and trunks for general walking around or other non-water activity).

4. Neighborhood/public pool...I would stick to trunks. You'll avoid potential problems. Yes, people who would criticize are prudes, but I'm not one to pick a fight. Wear speedos under trunks and if you feel the situation is appropriate, then shuck the trunks.

Can't think of any other situation. If you have one, comment about it and I'll respond with my thoughts.

Amazon is great for finding a cheep one. Just go for it, i use to have to wear one for practice and competition but would never wear it for rec or to the beach. Now that i see that they are making a come back and i started wearing mine in public.

I recommend the speedo. my mom had no problem getting them for me and my brother when we asked.

As a girl I have always preferred guys to wear trunks instead of speedos but really it is your choice and whatever you are more comfortable in.
