I have high hopes for it. Even more so when I heard JJ Abrams would be directing. My choice would have been Joss Whedon, but Abrams is great as well.
Even though I don't like Star Trek all that much, I think he did a really good job with it, and I'll definitely go watch Into Darkness.
If he does the same with the new Star Wars, I'll be pleased. :D

What the... Never heard of any of this. Well now I feel like I live under a rock... If they mess it up they'll disappoint more than one person I can already say easily.

Was the Avengers boring?
Were the Pirates movies boring?
They were made by Disney as well. Marvel, and now Lucasarts, are Disney subsidiaries. It will still be pretty much the same team of people working on Star Wars, with the freedom to do whatever they want.

Exactly. People hear the word 'Disney' and immediately assume it's going to be a musical starring Miley Cyrus with a light sabre, without knowing what's really going on.
Disney is not just a children's television network. They also make blockbuster films, many of which are critically acclaimed (The Avengers, for example). Not only that, but J.J Abrams is directing this film, and he is a magnificent sci-fi director. This film is in good hands.

I just have low thoughts on disney's writers, pirates was only good because of johnny depp and I wasn't all that fond of avengers or the individual movies. Captian american was alrigth but the villian was just a sad effort. Disney relies heavely on feel good stories and special effects.

But, the thing is, almost all the writers who worked on the previous Star Wars movies are going to write Episode VII.
Remember, people, LucasArts is still in charge of the project. They're owned by Disney, but Disney has zero creative input in the project development.

Apparently the movie is going to talk about the Solo and Skywalker children, I just hope they show their grown-up versions, I do not tolerate any more kids on Star Wars. However they can make a solid movie based on the story of Darth Caedus. Then again, it wasn't set in the Old Republic era, therefore the chances of it being amazing decrease.

The Legacy era has a lot of potential, and I think it's a very decent pick for a movie adaptation, considering the popularity of the comics.
I just hope they don't cut Darth Krayt. He's probably my favorite Sith Lord of all time. :D
Also, the Old republic Era is overrated. :P

It'd be nice if they just used the characters and created a totally new story.
Considering that the cast of the original movies are reappearing, I'm going to guess that the Skywalker/Solo children will be adults. :)

I completely disagree, The Old Republic era has so much variety into it, they can talk about the Great Hyperspace War, Exar Kun War, Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Civil War, Revan's travels, Zayne Carrick, Bane of the Sith, and more.
Knights of the Old Republic has the most solid story I have seen in a video game, the MMO had the story that was overrated.

I like The Old Republic, but I still think it's kind of overrated, especially when compared to the New Republic and Legacy. Events like the Yuuzhan Vong war and characters like Thrawn make the story really memorable.
How about we call it a tie? :P

People are saying that the movie is going to be terrible just because Disney bought the studio that is going to make it but I can give a number of reasons why it will be awesome
1. Disney owns marvel studios in the same way as they own Lucas films and Disney doesn't interfere with the quality of their movies. Everybody loved the avengers which was a Disney movie
2. Henry Ford has already signed on for the film.
3. George Lucas isn't directing it and won't be able to sell it out by creating pointless characters like jar jar bonks
4. It's going to be all new characters characters, maybe from the expanded universe
5. There is going to either be a young Han Solo movie or young boba fet movie or maybe both
6. George Lucas won't be able to troll with us and re release the movie with Haden Christensen at the end and have him fell like he has to go through all the trouble of changing Anikan but not anyone else

Avengers was good but not great in my opinion and Pirates wasn't "created" by Disney it was made by a a friend of Johnny Depp and himself. They got the final say in most decisions.

The movies were Disney's idea. They even had someone write a script, but Jerry Bruckheimer turned it down and had someone else write it.
He was the man that made the important decisions in the movie. Which was the point I was trying to make with Star Wars. Disney probably won't get involved in the development and just put it in the hands of LucasArts.
