So, I've noticed that people who reach the age of 19 are banned according to the rules. And I guess that's ok since that's the "retirement" age. But whenever I see the "banned" icon on a person, I am thinkin he/she did something bad to get thrown out from the forum, and it leaves a negative impression.

Would it be possible to give the people who has been here a long while and then turned 19 another icon that said "retired" instead? I think that would be much nicer :)

Um, no one is banned when they reach 19. I believe, if they join when they are 19, they are banned.

Like Skyler said you're only banned if you join the forums when you're over the age of 19. If you become 20 and you're already a member then you stay a member.

Really if their banned the impression they give doesn't really matter, they're jot ere anymore and they have to have done something substantial to get banned so its okay that you're weary. Past admins get the retired smiley anyway so its already been taken.

Agreed, Banned doesn't necessarily mean someone has done something against the rules, as people can request a ban should they feel that they are too attached to VT to leave willingly themselves.

Oh - I guess I got it wrong then :) Thanks for clearing that up :)

Nobody is banned upon reaching 19. People are banned if they join at age 20 or over or if they break the rules. If you joined before you were 18, then you can stay and post as long as you'd like but chances are you'll move on after reaching your early twenties.

Joined at 19 or younger, not 18 or younger no? No one is banned if they stay too long, heck Anthony (Maverick, who owns the site) still stops by, and he's 23 I believe.

19, correct.

This (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=167564) thread actually likely has quite a few members over 19, so. yeah. You won't be banned after 19. Unless you break the rules, that is. But hopefully once you reach that age, you'll be mature enough not to..

To answer the icon question, the retired icon is for Admins who have retired from the position. It won't be given to any member that is banned because, we'll, they've been banned for some reason. And everyone is pretty much right about the age question.

The thing is, "Retired" is already used in part when an Administrator of the Forum retires, so there could be some confusion that takes place.

If the moderators were willing to change it, may I suggest "unregistered" when banning someone who's joining when they're above 18/9?
