I am not sure a whole forum would be necessary. I remember Austin did something like this a while back where members had to vote in particular catagories of who they think should win a prize in like "Nicest Member" etc.

I agree with Alex and Dante does this as well:

Hmmm.. when I saw hall of fame I thought of something different. Although I like the idea above, how about we have something giving tribute to extraordinary members that have left us, i.e. Kevin, TheWizard (Josh), and TripleZ?

We have honored members in the announcement in introductions.

All staff members and founders of the site.

Oh, I never noticed that. Cool, its nice to know that those who really contributed to VT will always be remembered.

The thing is its obvious we'll appreciate our good staff and our great founders..

But some kind of ''unofficial'' half humurous recodnition to normal members wouldn't be too bad.. I suppose this is what the poster had in mind.

But yeah we already have forums for ''random stuff'' and people can make their own things.. Like Dante did lol

Anybody is welcome to do that if that's what they want to do. Dante just does the VT Awards on his own. Its just the matter of taking the initiative to do something different. Its something the community is welcome to do in a diary/thread but it won't have an offical forum or be lead by staff.

Yeah, I think it would be to subjective to be an "official thing". It should just be left as a fun thing.

I like this idea, but i think instead of categories have members in general who have been here for a certain amount of time and are worthy enough.

Aka: josh, cody, patch, and heather. i dont see anyone else as memorable yet.

"Worthy enough" is pretty subjective, why not just make a minimum number of posts? Perhaps 500 or so?

B/c "worthy enough" shouldn't relate to post count but rather post content

Seems totally unnecessary. Any kind of award bestowed on anyone would be based purely on the very subjective opinions of others and would probably incite some sort of riot amongst the members, some of whom might feel that they deserved it more. I can only see controversy arising from such a creation.

Rep points anyone?

November 8th, 2007, 02:21 AM
Eh. Rep points aren't used by everyone, so it's not everyone's opinion. I really won't complain if I get most offensive member that hasn't been banned yet. We could have a most infractions without ban award, too. Anyone with more than three?

i think its a good idea to have fun awards or what ever but only if people remember that its for fun only and not a popularity contest.

Tatsuya
November 8th, 2007, 07:19 AM
LOL.... i only want the hall of fame for fun not a contest or anything!

It still could anger or upset people.. Some people take this stuff way too seriously... =/

~let me guess......the person is you!

~well then i can just make a thread of rate the person`s avatar above you!.....can i?:)

Maverick

Some people might take it too seriously?? Are we a 12 and under forum? Dante has done 3 times and Austin 1 with no problem.

Underground_Network
November 8th, 2007, 08:35 AM
I guess it depends on the categories, I was probably overreacting, I don't know. :D I think its a fine idea, but there should either be a surplus of awards, or a limit on how many awards a single person can receive (unless its based on statistics like rep points or infractions, which I doubt it would be, b/c the rep system isn't fool proof)

Tatsuya
November 8th, 2007, 08:39 AM

I don't think rating is fair, really. :/ "Nicest member" etc, is all really down to personal opinions, and the people who don't get voted in or get a rating would feel excluded. Alround I think rating is kinda unfair, but hey, just my opinion. :)

Those who'd be jealous.. Well they would just be immature..

And I haven't seen anyone be angry/jealous over Dante' or Austin' ''awards''

Added poll, might help give a clearer idea of what people want!
