I received a letter a little after Christmas from someone in my family whom I love, but got so caught up in dealing with schoolwork that I forgot to write back, I feel really guilty, but I feel if I tell my parents, that they will be disappointed. What should I do?

It's never too late to reply to it, just make sure you apologise for overlooking it, they'll be grateful you just took the time to put things right.
You don't need to tell your parents specifically, but if you write the letter sooner rather than later, if they mention it you can honestly say you replied.
Hope it goes ok :)

Honestly I think when you write back to the person explain to them saying "I'm so sorry I haven't been able to respond back, I just got so busy with school work." They should completely understand, because sometimes I can't do things for the longest time because of school work. And far as telling your parents, just say the same thing too. They will understand.

I feel if I tell my parents, that they will be disappointed. What should I do? why would you bother telling your parents that you forgot to write back? do you tell them when you forget to wash your hands? or when you forget to brush your teeth? or when you don't do your homework right away?
as for what you should do, you write the person back and say, "Hey, thanks for the letter. Sorry I haven't written back before now but I've been really busy with school." and then you tell them what all you've been doing and shit.
am i missing something here? i'm not trying to sound like a jerk but how is this even a problem? just seems like a no brainer to me. relax and stop looking for trouble where there isn't any.

Write back, and maybe even call them to let them know you just sent them a letter and to apologize for forgetting. This stuff happens.

I agree with Gandalf (love the name!), it's never too late and just apologize for a late reply!

Thank you all so much, I'll try writing a letter + apology. :)
