DHS (Dept of Homeland Security) nulifies Fourth Amendment rights of millions of Americans.

The Dept. of Homeland security doesn't believe in the Fourth Amendment and has recently issued a statement to that effect.
They are claiming that if you live with in a 100 miles of the International Boarder that they have the right to search all electronic devices, including cellphones and laptop and tablet computers with out probable cause or first securing a serch warrant.

I have a hard time believing that that news has been out 5 or 6 days and yet I can't find a single article about it from a major news site like cnn or fox.

But if it is true, that's ridiculous.

Partially true, but not completely. I live within 100 miles of the border and have relatives that work for the DHS (Customs and Border Protection to be specific). At a border crossing the can search anything and anybody without a warrant or probable cause; if you've ever crossed the Canadian border, you know this to be true. Border Patrol's jurisdiction is within 100 miles of the border. They would still need at least reasonable suspicion to perform a search. The reasonable suspicion would have to be that you are 1) in the country illegally or 2) threatening homeland security.

I've personally never even been stopped by a border patrol agent, but I know people who have. Usually it's because they inadvertently crossed the border (farmers do all the time) or there is suspicious activity. One time my aunts were driving in the around the country to where their parents (my grandparents) homesteaded, which is very close to the border. Since it was a pretty remote location, it was suspicious.

Big Brother is watching you...

Haha, that's what my dad said when I told him.

But I do wish there are more sources on this. I just can't buy into it.
