hey girls, new and need some advice

So I've liked this girl since forever have been best friends for the last couple of years, last years valentine's day she gave me a valentine (and to my knowledge the only one she gave to a boy), this year I gave her one (the only one I gave to anyone) and she seemed pretty happy. I really want to tell her how I feel about her but I want some advice first. One: If your best friend asked you out would you feel super awkward even so much to severe the friendship. And two: Do girls shift from crush to crush as easily as they do cloths? Cuz I am 99% sure that she liked me last summer.
I don't have the balls to do it without advice first.

Ask her out. You have absolutely nothing to lose. If she just wants to be best friends then you have no worries because if going out on a date ruins the friendship status, then you were never best friends to begin with. Take a chance.

life is about taking risks! if she gave you a valentine that pretty much means she has some feelings for you :)

Definitely ask her out and treat it as you are taking your friend out and not a date. You obviously know her pretty well, so it should be easy. Me and my BF were best friends since 6 and we have taken on our relationship as best friends. Friendship and communications are the keys. You got half already. Good Luck dude.
