Tell me I'm not the only one :3

I name more than just instruments, but specifically, they're what I want to talk about. My Yamaha PSR-E313, my first-ever personal keyboard, is called Rose. My Privia PX-130 is Brian. My ocarinas are Zelda (soprano) and Ophelia(tenor).

What are your instruments' names? And how do you name them?

I forget whether I got my camera or my keyboard first, maybe my keyboard, but since then I've named them after the first thing I use them for. My Canon Powershot's called Immi because the first concert I shot with her was an Imogen Heap concert. And then the instruments are always named after one of the first songs/artists I play with them. Rose was the Titanic theme, Brian was named after Brian Molko of Placebo, Zelda's self-explanatory, and Ophelia was the Pan's Labyrinth theme.

I NEED HELP NAMING A UKULELE! :P I have recently purchased a soprano Lanikai ukulele. I don't know whether to name her Bjork (Hyperballad) or Amanda (after Amanda Palmer). Because Amanda Palmer is why I bought it, it's very tempting to name it after her, but then after Twinkle, Twinkle, I first learned Bjork's Hyperballad, and I like the name better for a uke.

We got instruments all over the house and to be honest, I don't think there is a single one with a name.

When our marching band got new percussion instruments, we named each drum. Our snare with the copper head is called selena, the one with the plastic head is called "that ugly snare" (not kidding), our biggest concert bass is called betsy. Our marching bass is called big bertha. We havent named our new tonal basses but we refer to each other ad our bass positions. Like I play bass 1, so my friends would call me bass 1 etc.

I name all of my instruments, it just gives them an extra little bit of character. I have 3 guitars with names;

Gibson Les Paul Jr called Ronnie,
Epiphone Slash 'Appetite' Les Paul called Kali,
and an Epiphone Dot called Chunk,

I also named my 2 Basses;

My Nikki Sixx Blackbird is called Winston;
and my P bass copy is called Betty.

Oh and I have a big 120 watt peavey 6505+ cab called Jeffrey

My girlfriend thinks its weird but I don't care because she's silly :p

First off, I love the fact your ocarina is named Zelda. ;)
Second off, I don't play an instrument, but my friend calls his violin Marissa. Thus why I clicked the topic title, I thought HE was the only one, as none of my other friends who play instruments name theirs.

I know what im about to say is cheesy, but whatever:
Naming your instrument helps develop a connection between you two. It helps you play better. In our drumline we say "You've got to love the drum, not beat it" :)

Haha! I knew it!

Even if it isn't so direct, yes! It does create that connection! I feel like with the vast amount of models and makes of all the instruments on the planet, there are exactly that many personalities each has. Plus, names are a hell of a lot easier to type. Brian. Casio Privia PX-130. Yeah. They're like friends. As lonely as that makes me sound. All the music you've made together, everywhere you've brought them.

All band kids I know, well, except for 1, have named their instruments!
My horn is Oliver and my Mell is, well, unnamed, I haven't found one that sticks.

I'm sure that one person in the band named her, I think, trombone. I don't think anyone in strings named their instruments (although one of the cellists has ribbons on her scroll which remind me of long hair) I have a keyboard, a violin, and a guitar, and strangely can't figure out good names for them.
