So during WWII Nazi Germany brainwashed its future citizens by having kids attend camps. Do you think the US brainwashes its kids? If so, how?

Every country brainwashes their kids. Probably more the USA than others, due to the MASSIVE amounts of advertising and bullshit which is preached.

Not on the level of Nazi Germany, no. Waving the flag comes from all sides and kids are the easiest to convince. I notice that social conservatives tend to be more on the side of brainwashing kids with whatever values they proclaim to support, but I can notice it a lot with more liberal parents.

I like how you don't even source what kind of advertising is preached.

Not even CLOSE, to Nazi Germany's level. North Korea does it that bad. They're in a state of complete brainwash. We can do it like that too but we choose not to, because of the lack morality in the process.

The government does it subtly.

COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY LIVES IN THE USA:

I can't really see how the US government tries to brainwash us. You really think they are smart enough to do that?

Jokes aside, I still say no. I live in the USA, obviously, and the "preaching" and "advertising" I see is just silly trivial things, but nothing that could potential brainwashing.

I don't think I'd want to compare the situation, but I indeed think that Americans are being influenced by their government, especially in the form of news. I feel like if I said anything else, it may seem a bit harsh.

Every political system is guilty of committing political socialization. By which I mean the schools, parenting, government, and media all teach the populace how to engage the political system. For more extreme spectrum governments, that's military demonstrations, reciting moral codes, or joining paramilitary groups. For others, it is patriotic music, imagery, and tradition. The United States pushes quite a bit of patriotism through their schools when children are taught about how the government works, what it is to be an American, etc. I think it is very different that places like Nazi Germany or North Korea where people aren't allowed to disagree. Clearly, there is a message that is preferred to be absorbed, but there is definitely more leniency in United States process.

I don't think the government brainwashes us I think the closest thing to brainwashing in the USA are corporate companies that use advertisements to entice consumers. I mean of course they have to reel us in someway but I would bet my soul that NO PRODUCT WILL EVER LOOK AS GOOD AS THE COMMERCIAL.

In a way, every country brainwashes their citizens. Mildly usually.
Patriotism and such usually.

Meh, in a sense. I wouldn't consider having children be taught to be a tad bit more proud of where we live isn't so bad.

Well I don't think it's as straight forward as Nazi Germany literally saying that these people are bad and you should not like them. With the US it's in all the corporations. Just a few days ago we were looking at how McDonalds happy- meals are directed at kids with their toys and good (tasting) food. Tobacco companies are also suspected of targeting minors. I don't think the govt. is doig it. Corporations are doing it for money.

This post is in response to who neg repped me:

No, it really doesn't mean that my opinion is higher, but tell me how on earth you would know what's really going on in the USA, if you do not live there yourself?

You don't see non-government American Citizens running around telling people from other countries their country is doing something similar.

let me ask you something? If the US government did somehow create a system to brainwash people then why would they hold elections every 4 years where a different party wins? Wouldn't one party keep control of congress if there was wide spread Brainwashing. And please it is just an insult to millions of Brave citizen's of earth who stood up and opposed the third Reich.

I don't really think so since the freedom we have what to think, so they really can't brainwash us. They can openly express what they think, but I don't think they can brainwash us.

Its not really brainwashing as much as there are so many stupid people that it is easy for the goverment to do what it wants. A lot of people in US probably don't know about some rewriten bill that was passed that allows the goverment to look at your personal emails without a warrent. Why don't they know? Because everyone was too busy watching television of the shootings across the country and gun nuts yelling about tyranny on the news.

I see it that way, media manipulation is an issue. Children in many countries are raised to think their way is right and thats it. I talk to kids in class and their all like sensitized to what their parents/ the government tells them. They cant think for them selves and choose their own path. People need to wake up. Lets take Adam Lanza for example. What he did was horrible, but through media manipulation everyone blames it on guns and videogames but i blame it on something else. Pharmaceutical drugs. 90 percent of school shooters had either been under the influence or previously used anti depressants. But you dont hear about this in the media its fukkkin retarded. This is just one example of how the goverment and the media screw us up.
