So wrestling has been dropped from the Olympics to be replaced by another sport that will be decided at a later date http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/21427455 Thats the full story on the BBC website, what do you guys think? Any wrestling fans seriously dissapointed or anyone got a sport they would like to see in its place?
Personally I think a change will be nice and we might get something awesome in it's place.

I think it's unfair. People will have been training so hard to be in the 2016 Olympics and now their dreams are crushed. They should give warning a lot longer than that.
I do hope it gets replaced with cheese rolling though. That would be an epic olympic sport.

I think someone needs to actually read the article... Or if you did, you missed it twice where it said "... dropped from 2020 Olympic Games..."

FUCK YOU IOC!!!!!!!!! i could have made it into the 2020 olympic games as a wrestler. but i highly doubt that will be like this. it will be revoked most likely as it IS the oldest sport in the olympic games.
BTW i am a wrestler

The article on the news I watched explained it was the oldest but said it was time for change so I doubt it will change

but you just don't remove the oldest sport, i hope it is only for the 2020 olympics and not permanent .

Instead of taking out a sport that only has 72 athletes from 26 different countries (modern pentathlon), they take out wrestling, which has 344 athletes from 71 different countries, and which has also been around since the first Olympic Games. Bullshit.

This is a very strange thing for the IOC to do. Wrestling is a universal sport which is contested in pretty much all of the countries of the world. If they have a problem with too many events (which I also don't agree with)....why not get rid of one that few athletes compete in? They were quick to drop baseball and softball because of the domination by a few countries, and the fact that a lot of countries don't even play those sports.
Every country does wrestling.
This may just end up being another Olympic bribery thing. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Fair point, that tells me, I didn't read it. I guess 2020 is more acceptable, it gives people time to change course at least.

I think its more about $€£ to be honest, but I still think its a bad decision, I watched wrestling and I must say it was brilliant.
I did notoce that the BBC page linked to in the OP stated that its not a final decision lets just hope a 'u' turn is made.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. There's got to be some reason behind the dropping of wrestling, most likely money.

Here's hoping it'll be replaced by Olympic Total Wipeout.

"Modernizing the Olympics!?!?" What in God's name made them think of this?! Wrestling was done in the ORIGINAL Olympics in Ancient Greece. We do NOT need to get rid of wrestling. If anything we should remove, it should be something like Table Tennis... Seriously, who cares about that?!

-_- The wrestling that (should) take place in the Olympics is completely different from that fake wrestling crap. The only similarity is the ability to pin someone.

I never watched wrestling or the Olympics much either, but I think they should keep wrestling because it's been in the games since the start, and going back to ancient Greece.
