Who do you think has the best voice out of all of the musical artists currently? This means people who you here on the radio, people who are popular among young people. This means Elvis is a no :P

If you can, give an example, such as a youtube video.

I'll give my opinion after a few other people post there thoughts and ideas.

Hmm.. Is it allowed to be a current singer, for a well known band, but someone that no one here has ever heard of(except maybe a select few)?

I'm not really sure, but my favorite band is Rise Against, so I vote Tim McIlrath. (I think he has a great voice) I could name some others, but I know the bands, not the names of their singers, so yeah.. once I grow out of my current lazy state and decide to search for the singers' names, I'll post them (or which ever one I decide is the best).

julie andrews, before her operation... man her voice was amazing
jeff buckley could hold notes 3 octaves high for 20 seconds, now thats amazing
freddie mercury his vocal range was unbelievable.
whitney houston also had some incredible skill
oh and i can't forget micheal jackson :P

You have to admit Michael Jackson was a pretty good vocalist.

I don't think this is something that can be answered..

You might like someones voice for different reasons and some other guys voice for another reason..

And peoples moods change...

I don't wan't to give any names.. I don't really care about octaves etc.. I just care that I like it..

I listen to alot of blues so I like alot of the greats.. And there is no way I am gonna name all of them just the ones I have been listening to the most recently

John Lee Hooker, David ''Honeyboy'' Edwards, Buddy Guy

EDIT: Lol sorry 1s dead and the other 2 are well old but it doesn't matter I like them myself ;P I can't say I like any new music..

:p

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2YaLz_jpihQ - and the first not of this performance.

Christina Aguliera, in my opinion, is the best young, popular vocalist.

For male, Serj Tankian (System of a Down)
For female, Tarja Turunen (Nightwish).

If you want the "sickest" vocalist of all time, it has to be Johnny Whitney of The Blood Brothers.. The Blood Brothers have two vocalists, but his voice his unique to say the least...

Here's a link to their video for Love Rhymes With Hideous Car WrecK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBBQfqdfX-c

Rise Against? Blood Brothers? Sorry both are quite generic in todays mass of vocals.

I completely agree with Serj Tankian (System of a Down), this man can hit some highhhh vocals, and change pitches at the drop of a hat.

I'd also recommend Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence (his real name is something else).

I'd recommend Dickface for a good song that shows range.

The Blood Brothers, generic? Wtf, find someone with a similar voice to Johnny Whitney and I'd probably give you one million dollars... Anyway, what about Damon Albarn? (He's the guy who does ALL the voices for Gorillaz)

Is Johnny Whitney the first one to sing? Or the person that sounds like (and is hopefully) a schoolgirl.

If he's the first one to sing, yes I have one artist whom he sounds like a replica of. Billy Idol.

Such a similar tone it's ridiculous. Billy hit higher notes though.

Underground_Network
November 11th, 2007, 06:21 PM
No, he's the second guy to sing (the one that sounds like a schoolgirl). Thats why I said his voice was "unique". :P

Octo22
November 11th, 2007, 06:24 PM
Well do you want a male singer or an actual schoolgirl for me to pick that sounds similar?

Also find a clip that shows that voice live? It's clearly been edited because of the effect of several voices at once and not one vocal chord at all.

This is them live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NhVhzVepxg, my computer is screwed up right now, so I didn't really get to listen to it.. btw, The Blood Brothers broke up, but he still sings, he is now the lead singer for Jaguar Love, the other singer (the one who sounds "normal", is Jordan Blilie)

I don't even consider that singing.

If it's original to shout and distort your voice as much as possible, I guess beatboxers should be the best VOCALISTS in the world.

Underground_Network
November 12th, 2007, 04:16 PM
Still.. what about Damon Albarn?? And anyways.. ^^ I never said he was the best vocalist, I said he's one of the most "unique" vocalists!!!

Bobby
November 12th, 2007, 04:22 PM
Okay. Back on topic (my topic :P).

Best (not most unique) popular (mainstream) vocalists.

Underground_Network
November 12th, 2007, 04:41 PM
I still say Damon Albarn... But yeah.. Anyone have any idea of best female vocalist? I think we've only seen male vocalists so far... I seriously can't choose one individual as the best female vocalist..

Bobby
November 12th, 2007, 04:44 PM
Have you not read any of my posts? And anyway, I wouldn't consider this Damon guy popular. I haven't heard of him, and this is mainstream current artists.
Jeez :P

You've never heard of Gorillaz??

Bobby
November 12th, 2007, 04:49 PM
Okay. I've heard of them. But not Damon whateverhislastnameis. Okay, let's continue this thread. If you want a debate, take it to the debate forums, and uh I am the king of this thread and you have to bow down to me. If you don't, I will pull out my whip.

Male, I would have to say Ne-Yo.

Best male singer: Joe Jonas [from Jonas Brothers]

Best female singer: Vanessa Hugens [ known from high school musical]

Jack off Jill's lead singer has a great range. (female)

Underground_Network
November 13th, 2007, 04:15 PM
Vanessa Hudgens is actually a very good vocalist... Hmmm, not sure she's the best though.. Ne-Yo is good, but again, we're gonna get different names from different people who like different genres... I don't really know.. Hmm.. I like the lead singer from Action Action, but I'd have to go look up his name... The lead singer for Nickelback is really good too, I don't think there is a "best", I think you could name a lot of people who would fall under the title of "best" vocalist.. my vote right now goes to either the lead singer for Nickelback or Damon Albarn (the guy who does all the voices for Gorillaz).

For male vocalist I'd have to go with Phil Collins. He puts so much emotions into his music.
For female I would say Kelly Clarkson. I don't like her music but her voice is amazing!

I'm gonna have to agree with that.

But I'd say the best vocalist is Craig Owens from Chiodos

I'm going to give you two people:

First, Natalie Horler from Cacada has a great, clear voice. I love all of their songs.

And, Tyson Ritter, the bassist and Vocalist from All American Rejects HAs a great voice even when he's screaming out the lyrics.

Sorry, too lazy to provide links. Just search YouTube.

I'd probably say Amy Lee, from Evanescence. Her voice just seems perfect. Except when she distorts it et al...

People say Mariah Carey is "The Voice". But I think Christina Aguliera destroys her.

Underground_Network
April 27th, 2008, 05:12 PM
I find Mariah Carey's voice annoying. Maybe it's her lyrics though...

Bobby
April 27th, 2008, 05:13 PM
Definatly her lyrics. They are horrible.
