Do you think money can buy happiness??

Nope. Money can only do so much. However, you could use it to create a false sense of happiness by bribing friends or traveling to vacation spots often, but of course you wouldn't truly be happy.

These days money is quite literally power. People in other countries need money to eat so in a sense yes. Money can in some cases buy happiness, of course the happiness lasts as long as the money.

In some cases yes, but most of the time they don't last very long...

Unless power is happiness which it isn't.

Depends.

If purchasable objects make you happy, then sure.

If you mean happiness in a love way, then you can always buy a wife over the Internet. Yes I am serious.

Not really. Money can but some happiness, i mean, who would not be happy with a new house, car, phone etc... But that is not real happiness. It's not the same thing crying in a huge luxurious house, than crying on your best friend shoulder, who listens to you and helps you. Neither a BMW would be proud of your accomplishments, as your own family would be.

Definitely not. Money literally cannot buy happiness. Happiness is a state of mind. It's not a palpable object that is worth any kind of currency. In other words, happiness does not necessarily depend upon wealth.

There was actually a scientific study done in this, and they concluded that money CAN buy happiness. Here's the catch, say a person who makes $10,000 a year doubled how much he earned, well he would be happy for a long time. But once that happiness wore off, you would have to double your money again and keep doing that. But it must be doubled, nothing less than doubled.

Since that's almost impossible to do, no it cannot buy happiness. But I sure as hell would rather be crying in a Ferrari vs a Toyota :P haha

Money can buy you temporary happiness. With that being said I would call it more of an infatuation -- a short burst of happiness that wears off over time. You can be pleased with material items and you can certainly be happy to have them; but your overall happiness will not be permanently increased because too many emotional factors have to be accounted for to be able to say you are truly happy. I'm sure as hell happy to have a car, nice art supplies and a nice wardrobe; but that doesn't change the fact that I'm unhappy with my love life and family setting.

As others have mentioned, in some cases, yes, it can buy happiness, but in other situations, it can't.

Money can buy happiness, if you want to get a bunch expensive shit, but if you're having problems with friends, family, etc. then money can't get you out of those problems.
So basically, all money will do, is buy you shit, and pay off bills/debts you owe. Money can't fix personal issues.

I think it can. People who make £10,000 more a year will probably be a lot more happier as life will be easier and more relaxing.

To an extent, yes. People with enough money to love comfortably will be happier than those who have to worry about if they can afford to eat. However, beyond the amount required to live a good life, it doesn't make much of a difference.

I saw an interesting study about this a few months ago. It found that the best way to use money to buy happiness was to spend it on other people. People who bought things for themselves were no happier, while those who bought gifts for friends and gave more to charity were generally happier.

Money can be used to buy things. Things that make you happy when you use them.

Happiness is an emotion and therefore can not be bought just like love and hope

To be honest, I see it as it depends on the person.

If having money makes someone happy, then yes, money can buy happiness. Regardless of how they use it, just because you wouldn't be happy with it, doesn't mean other people won't be too.

Having enough money to make ends meet removes financial stress from a persons life, therefore increasing their well-being and probably their happiness. Being extremely wealthy on the other hand does not increase well-being as much, therefore there is less of a correlation between wealth and happiness.

No not for me happiness is having my boyfriend the one that can cheer me up with a smile and a simple touch on the shoulder! Money doesnt buy happiness but it can make a happy person happier. I have grown up around money and for a long while wasnt happy. Happiness is definitely having special people around you in my eyes!

Honestly yes some of you may stand on your pedestal and say "money can't buy happiness"] when in actuality it really can as the great philosopher Daniel Tosh "Rich people are happy they can afford nice things like a wave runner you can't frown or be sad on a wave runner its impossible"

Happiness = brain chemicals
Brain chemicals = something
Something = value
Value = Money
Therefore happiness = money
And I have neither.

An increase in income is correlated with an increase in happiness until the point where you're no longer below the poverty line. After that, no, not strongly.
