View Full Version : Always tired?

Lately, I've been tired all the time. I sleep a ton: during the day, usually 8 to 10 hours at night, and at any opportunity I can find. I don't have the energy to do any work, and even my muscles feel weak. What can cause this kind of exhaustion other than sleep deprivation, since that's clearly not my problem?

If you get too much sleep, then it makes you feel really tired, and want to sleep all the time. So sleep a little less, but still make sure you're fully rested.
Also, if you try to stay active, and eat fruit ( along with other healthy food ), and maybe take some vitamins, that will give you energy, and you won't be so tired all the time.

It could also be that you have low iron, I know that with my anemia it makes me tired all the time. If I forget to take iron I sleep for that long too. Try taking some iron tablets and see if that helps you.

I've tried sleeping less. Which is why I started sleeping a lot in the first place, to be honest. I go between doing a lot of these things, and exhaustion is just a constant.

Start exercising your metabolism will rise and get around 7 hours of sleepI do exercise. And the amount of sleep I get doesn't affect my tiredness.
Have you been stressed lately ?I guess sort of.

It's not the sleeping that's the problem.
Well, at least until I start failing classes because of it.

I understand you started only lately to have this condition. So it might be just a phase you are going through. If it lasts longer though I'd really consider to have a generall checkup at your doctor's. Especially if it effects your daily life and it bothers you.
Specialized doctors have ways to help you. There are even labs they can monitor you nightly sleep in. So don't hesitate to get professional help if you don't get back to normal in a while.
All the best!

Yeah, I'd say it's been about a week to a week and a half. Thanks!

It could be a lot of different things. Anemia is a possibility, especially if you have also experienced other symptoms such as pale skin, difficulty concentrating and shortness of breath. It could also be some thyroid issue, which can often cause fatigue. It could also be a sign of depression, especially of accompanied by any of its othes symptoms.
You should see your doctor and report all the symptoms you have been having. They may do a bold test to check iron and thyroid levels, among other things. And may refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Are you just bored? I know I sleep a lot due to boredom. Find something constructive to fill your time with. Or just play video games. Whatever you choose.

A lot of people have been telling me it might be anemia. My skin's naturally pale, but my concentration levels have been pretty low and I've definitely been short of breath lately. I've actually been thinking it was kind of weird.
You could have Mono.Let's hope not.

I agree with this. Iron deficiency can be a big course of fatigue, especially in girls because of the loss or blood during menstruation - don't worry, it's pretty common. I urge you to get a blood test done, that will at least give you an indication as to whether you're deficient and something can be done about it. If it's not your iron levels then maybe you should go to the doctor and see if they have any ideas about what it might be. I know how draining excessive tiredness can be and it when it's sorted it feels like such a big weight off your shoulders.

Could your lack of energy come from being sedentary (sleeping too much)? What if you sleep for less?
