Honestly, I hope he wins. Why? You may ask. Well because that money will be going to charity. That's why :)

Maher was jokingly saying that if trump can prove he isn't half primate from his dad then he will donate $5 million to charity (mocking what trump did to Obama about birth records) and Trump showed him the birth certificate of his father proving maher other wise but maher is not keeping to his word of donating the money. So trump is sueing him to donate the money for breaching word of contract or whatever.

Are you f-ing kidding me. That Maher guy is who I saw on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Every word he said just made me angrier and angrier. He is one of those lying, cheating, freeloading sons of bitches from Hollywood. I personally love Hollywood and SoCal. But when you become rich, you are supposed to be a republican right. They have much more sense than those Share-Our-Wealth democrats. I hope he sues him for more than $5 million. More like $50 million.
Also, Trump had a really good reason to ask Obama for his birth certificate. If he became President and ruined the system by having a fake or no certificate at all, he should be striped from Government just like Anthony Wiener's wiener

Why does he need to..err.."sit down"? Trump kept his word, and Maher needs to, as well.
This will turn into a debate so..

While I am not really a big fan of Donald Trump (though I do find The Apprentice somewhat amusing), I do hope he wins this lawsuit. I understand that Bill Maher is a comedian, but you do not joke about donating money to charity. You can't go around saying you are going to give millions of dollars, and then go back on your word. That's no laughing matter. Trump is right about that - there are groups that can use that five million dollars.

I care. Not for Trump or Maher, but when money for charity is denied when someone goes back on their word. Joke or no joke. :(

Donald Trump is stupid for taking anything Bill Maher says seriously. If trump is so worried about the charity getting the money, he should do it himself. It's not like he doesn't have 5mil to spare. Somehow I think this is a more of personal thing than actually being about the charity.

I agree with what you are saying completely. I have a hard time getting over the joking about donating money, though. To me, this is a major faux pas by Bill Maher. I guess I'm the only one who thinks that it should be off limits as far as jokes are concerned.

I think Trump is upset at the fact that it is..well, charity. Obviously, he wants Maher to pay it, to stay true to his word.

Only reason I say go Trump is for charities. No charities means that gravity cat is NOT AMUSED.

Lawsuit would fail in Canada.
It's obvious by the terms employed that there was no meeting of the minds. Hopefully the US also has common sense, because I wouldn't like friends to sue me for breach of contract when I'm telling them I want to stick a cucumber without lube up their ass and am pretty disgusted when they tell me to go on.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. It was clearly a joke. I don't see how anyone could thing Maher was being serious. Also, Trump has so much money, I'm sure he can spare 5 million for charity if it means that much to him.

This. I think Donald Trump is just being a sissy. Bill Maher is a satirist; it's his job to make jokes. Now, out of principle, I do think he should donate money to charity to stay true to his word. Although Trump should just make Maher look like an a-hole by just leaving him voluntarily refusing to donate. But Trump is continuing to ruin America's image of suing other people for trivial reasons, and the whole situation is just pathetic.

I do agree that Trump has the money to donate a few million, and he should.
I do agree that Trump makes a complete ass of himself most of the time, and I think that Maher does too.
I understand that Maher is a comedian and a satirist, and he shouldn't be taken seriously. It's his job. I realize that. I know that when he talks about Donald Trump, he is saying it in jest. Lord knows, Trump deserves to be treated like the ass he is sometimes.
None of that is what I have a problem with. I don't have a problem at all with Maher and Trump skewering each other into the ground.
I just don't think that the whole "I will donate $5 million to charity if...." and then going back on it because it is a joke, is necessary at all. And that goes both ways, to Trump with his whole bullcrap thing with Obama and to Maher with his Trump "joke." To me, when you start saying you will donate money, even in jest...you should be donating it. The joke is funny, yes. Yanking away the money is not.
The difference between Dickhead Donald and Asswipe Maher here is that I actually do believe that Trump would have donated the five million dollars if Obama would have done what he asked. As ridiculous as that was, and as much as I disagree with Trump for making the offer in the first place.

I dont know what you think, but this isnt about Donald Trump having $5 million dollars to spare. Yes he does have $5 million to spare, but you cant force him to give it away. After all, It is his money and he can spend it however the hell he wants! Some of you people sound like such bottom feeders by saying, "its not like he needs $5 million for himself, he can spend it".
This is Donald Trump's money, and he can spend it however he wants. Not because some middle class democrats want to "Share-Our-Wealth". If rich people had to give away some of their money, then eventually, we would no longer have rich people.
- Then who would be our employers, NOBODY WOULD!!!!!!!
- who would run the nations markets, NOBODY WOULD!!!!!!!!
I just get so sick of people who say, he has excess money, lets make him spend it. And when someone breeches contract, refusing to give to a charity, that makes me throw up on how sick and greedy some stupid, unintelligent ass holes are (Maher).

So you're saying getting money and giving it to people for their services requires YOU to actually have large amounts of money? And that being a banker or CEO requires large amounts of money? Really?
Erhm. So Maher has spend HIS money the way HE wants, too or...?
Not.
You... What... I... Whaaa? .....?
Contract?
A joke is a CONTRACT?
Is something wrong with you?
Greedy? Because donating (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2012/02/bill-maher-donates-million-dollars-to-obama-pac.html) $1million (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/02/28/bill-maher-explains-why-he-donated-1-million-to-a-pro-obama-super-pac-these-republicans-scare-me/) to Obama (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/maher-donates-1-million-obama-super-pac-131123895.html) is greedy. Yeah? Mmhmm?

It was about keeping Mahers word. Maher said he would donate, but ended up he didn't. Trump probably donates millions to charity already.
