Progressive rock band Coheed & Cambria released their new album The Afterman: Descension today. The album is a continuation on the Amory Wars saga, which has spanned all of their LPs. Descension is an immediate followup to Ascension, following the story of Sirius Amory throughout his internal and supernatural struggles.

The album has several different styles of music in it, from Dark Side of Me which carries an alternative rock sound, to Number City which in itself holds multiple styles. It's hard to describe how the mixture of sounds fit so perfectly, but all that can be said is they do.

The story behind the album only adds to the songs. Without knowing the story, the songs still can hold a very personal meaning to the listener.

There's no way I can say there's a bad song on this album, but I do have my three favorites.
