Dunno where it'll take off, but here goes NOTHING :3
I close my eyes, feeling the rays of sun on my face. It's nice and warm here. The summertime is always pleasant. A small smile begins to creep up, but I stop it and come back to reality.
Soon I hear footsteps. I spin around to see Greyson. He looks about as tired as I feel.
"Hey Demi." He says with a smile.
"Hi." I say.
He pokes my ribs. "Is everything alright?"
I barely have time to nod before he yanks me down below the log I was sitting on. We hear big, clunking footsteps crushing the brush that's so native to our forest.
Greyson and I, and the people of our city, are known as exiles. We were kicked out years apon years ago for something that's been changed and rearranged for centuries. But every now and again the people of the main cities, known as Alpha and Demeita, come out to see how we're doing. We're not suppose to leave the walls of the our city, known only as 'City', but sometimes it's nice to actually see the sunlight. Feel the dirt beneith my feet. Look at the plants that grow around me.
See what life could be.
After about twenty minutes the soldiers walk past us again. They catch glimpse of my dagger, but shrug it off as something left there by the patrole guy.
"Shew!" Greyson laughs.
We hear something behind us. Click! Oh crap.
"Come with me." We hear.
I glance behind. It's one of the soldiers from the main city. Oh no. This is so not good.
"What are your names?" He asks. We've boarded a train, and we're going to the main city Alpha. I can tell that's were he's from because the emblem on his shirt is an A with a star around it. Very interesting.
"Grayson Jasper." Grayson says boldly.
I don't reply.
"Miss, what is your name?" He demands.
"Demi Fairchild." I whisper quietly.
He just looks at me. "Fairchild? As in Ivan Fairchild?"
I nod. "That's my father."
The soldier just looks at me, amazed. He is struck speachless.
"Why does it matter?" I ask.
"You'll know in the city, okay? Just don't worry." The soldier snaps.
"What's your name, anyhow?" I ask him.
"Tak. Elisha Tak." He replies.
I nod. "So you knew my father?"
"Just shut up, kid. We'll be in Demeita soon." He warns.
Demeita? But he's from Alpha. I so don't understand this. But okay.
Soon, we enter the arches of the city. They're very large metalic arches, curved over the top of the train like leaves over a bicycle trail.
Tak pulls us both up, and we all walk to the main entrance of the city hall. It's huge, the doors themselves six to seven times taller than an average door. I stare up in awe at the building.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Tak asks, smiling.
"You're an Alpha. Why are we here?" I snap.
"You'll see. Listen, Demi, have you seen your father recently?"
I look down and sigh. "He's been dead for three years."
Tak frowns, and takes us inside the building.
