I don't know why it's affected me so badly, but we found out this morning that a girl in my school died last night. She was in year 11 and we think the cause of death was alcohol poisoning. School today was tough - pretty much everyone was crying at some stage, and I've heard that she was a national standard swimmer. She had so much ahead of her, and she'd barely even started in life. Why did this happen? It's so unfair!

death happens for a reason..
if it was alcohol poisoning perhaps she was bullied and commited suicide
you wont know unless you ask someone.. im sorry to hear about this tragic loss. death is never easy.... dont take it too hard... as for why we never know why these things happen. everything happens for a reason and we cant control it :'(

I know it's hard. It happens. And when it does, it sucks so bad. My friend is going to die in 3 years. And it sucks to know that. She will be 17. And then I'll be alone. So I know how you feel. Stay strong!

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you know her?

If something like this happened to me I know for a fact that I wouldn't get an announcement and all my friends would never know what happened, especially because my mom works at the school so they'd know something's up and we didn't just move away

I had almost the exact same thing happen at my school. 14 and took her own life. It really affects everyone. I hope everything gets better.

Adolescence is a really tough time, you have to deal with changes you are not mentally ready, both physical and mental changes. And it does not help the non-interfere attitude of who are supposed to be like our second parents, teachers, who let much of the bullying pass by because if the act, if they dare correct a spoil child, they get hell from the parents and system. So we came to a time when many teenagers end up alone on their houses for hours, no help or emotional containment at school, and having access to alcohol, drugs and poisons. In an emotionally unstable mind, those are exits to the suffering.

I know, I almost killed myself four years ago, was about to jump. But faith made me rethink about it. But not everyone get a sign that they should not do it. We need to be on the look-up for signs of depression on our friends and acquaintances.

I was born christian, but I no longer believe there is another life after this one. The only way to live for ever is to leave your mark on this world, be the best you can be and make an impact on everyone you meet, that way, when your days here are done, there will still be people telling your life story and thus achieve immortality.

It will always impact you when someone your age is gone, be it by accident, illness or suicide. You have to be brave and continue on.
