I was wondering if anyone could point me towards some good Symphonic Metal bands. I've already fallen in love with Nightwish, Epica, ReVamp and After Forever, does anyone know of any other good bands?
P.S: I have heard Within Temptation, I jut can't seem to get into them as much, if anyone could recommend any songs that are particularly good by them, that would be much appreciated too. :D
Also, just out of curiosity, what's your favourite Symphonic Metal band? Mine would have to be Nightwish. ^_^

Well fucking finally, a music thread I can answer! :D
K, I'm not really into it too much anymore, but I had a major symphonic/power metal phase back in 2008 or so after I found Nightwish in 2007. I've seen Nightwish live twice, Epica once. I don't listen to them much now, but I'm still struggling to keep saying Nightwish is my all-time favourite band. My alternative phase is kinda taking over and The Dresden Dolls would be my all-time if I let myself say that, but I still can't lol. Every now and then I'll pop in Wishmaster and I still know every-single lyric. Tarja was the reason I kept singing and took classical training, so it's very nostalgic for me.
I see you like Floor lol. I would have said After Forever even if Anette was still the band. I found AF during that year as well. I was so excited when they said Floor was touring with them! My second show was about five days before Anette left. I was both happy and bummed cause Floor's got a fucking awesome voice.
But umm. I can point you in the direction of some other bands I used to listen to. Some of these will venture into power metal as well but w/e. Most of the bands kinda mesh together for me anyway.
First of all, have you checked out Tarja's solo, Tarot, and Brother Firetribe? Tarot is Marco's side project and BF is Emppu's side project, just in case you're interested. Also, not posting it below because it isn't as close to the genre, but HIM is well-liked as well and they're also Finnish :3 It's only Tarja, Nightwish, and HIM that are still in my iTunes library at this point.

Ah, damn. I was going to suggest Xandria.
That pretty much covers it. If you're looking for more, then wikipedia can help you out, as well as just trying related videos on youtube. Experiment, see what you like.

Same here.
I don't listen to a lot of Symphonic metal I'm afraid. Just never has grown on me for some reason.

Well, since Syvelocin pretty much already covered this thread the only thing I could add are these guys, they're a Melodic Death Metal/Symphonic Metal hybrid band:

Sonata Arctica- I enjoyed them. They weren't AMAZING, but they were good. ^_^
Sirenia- I have heard them before, but I forgot they existed :P I quite like them :)
Elis- They weren't too bad at all
Midnattsol- They were quite good too
Leaves' Eyes- I didn't enjoy these guys as much, but they weren't horrible
Kamelot- Pretty good :D
Xandria- I've heard these guys before too, I have a terrible memory if you couldn't tell. I really like them
Sinergy- I definitely see what you mean about the combo with power metal :P They were great. I love power metal too ^_^
Mandragora Scream- I really enjoyed them :)
Visions of Atlantis- They were pretty fucking awesome XD
Amaranthe- I really like the vocal combinations, but I'm not a fan of the electronic/techno-y element
I have heard H.I.M and I like them, same with Tarot and Tarja's solo work. I just listened to Brother Firetribe and I like them too :)
Thank you both so much, I've got some great new bands to listen to ^_^

Actually, I have been recently listening to this band called Septicflesh, even though they aren't a (I don't think this is best word to use) "true" Symphonic metal band. They combine elements with Gothic, Death, and Industrial metal as well.
Here's a song from their most recent album The Great Mass:

and an orchestral version of another song:

+1 on Tarot, Xandria etc.
Have you tried Northern Kings?
4 Finnish guys (including Marco from Nightwish) singing 80's covers... Sounds corny (is occasionally, in this film clip we see some great dramatic eye closing) but some pretty awesome stuff.

Edguy (which is more heavy metal than symphonic) and Tobias's other band Avantasia are probably my favorites. Otherwise, Kamelot is pretty good too.

I wanted to post some symphonic power metal, but then I fear the testosterone will be too much for some people. XD
Oh, Kamelot is already on the list. That's good.
Ayreon is Symphonic Prog, I think.
kjhEE13-7RE
That's about it, the rest are symphonic metal that were already mentioned. And Power Metal, which isn't quite suitable to this here thread. I usually group power, symphonic and gothic metal all together.
And you know why?

Not really into it, but I do like this group and they technically falls into this category:
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
