I noticed that the website url is a website concerning the UK. Also numerous statements within the article claim "..in the UK", "at its UK outlets", etc. So i'm not entirely convinced that the horse meat was found in the united states chains, maybe just confined to the united kingdom.

So for any of use living in the united states (such as myself) i don't think we need to be worried about there being factual evidence of horse meat in our burgers. However fast food companies do have a reputation for having some unorthodox ingredients.

If anyone finds out anymore information about horse meat being the united states chains can you please link the article? I haven't been able to come across anything.

I wonder if this is having a larger impact on their revenue than just declaring it up front would have...

Society's morals are weird. I'm allowed to eat a cow but not a dog. I'd prefer to eat neither but I can't be vegetarian in my current circumstances.

In other words, suck it up princess(es). :)

Seriously, I wouldn't eat a horse burger. I like horses, you know as a pet, not food.

Despite belief, horse meat doesn't taste bad at all. Along with Kangaroo. Kangaroo meat is delicious.

But I do think if they use horse meat, it needs to be written on the menu as horse meat

When I last went in there where sold out signs on one of the burgers. My friend works there and told me the next day it was because horse meat was found in them. He has a tendency to lie so I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth. Apparently he was.

Doesn't bother me really and I don't see people's problem with them. Meat is meat, and it seems such a waste of burgers to get rid of all the ones with horse in them now. The only real issue is the fact that it was there and we didn't know, but when it comes to actually eating the horse, I really don't care.

The point isn't that people are eating horse meat -- although a lot of people will see that as the main point -- the reason why it's a big deal is because they denied it and lied about the contents of their food. Who is to say that they aren't lying about 3/4 of their menu and that people aren't being informed about what they are eating? It goes further than just likes/dislikes and moral rights/wrongs concerning what we eat, it's a matter of deceiving customers and lying about the ingredients in their foods, which in the US is illegal.

Understandable, I guess. But would it be such a huge thing if they lied about putting water in their pop machines? Both are drinks, just like how hamburger and horse meat are both meats. The only difference is morals.

I do agree they shouldn't lie about it though. That's pretty stupid/messed up.

Well since they're already lying about ingredients who is to say that their secret sauce isn't made with vomit or rotten food, or even worse. We can't be sure because they're already about what's in their food -- it's more of a health/safety concern than a difference in morality.

Which is exactly why I do not eat fast food

A very good reason not to :P
I don't east fast food much at all myself.

Why are you all so upset about this? Horse meat isn't that bad, try it and you might like it. If you can eat a chicken, you can eat a horse. There's no difference. It's an animal, not a demigod.

I hate how they use the word, "contaminated." It's fucking horse meat, not a virus. Horse meat may be really gross to some people, but it isn't life threatening. Yes, they broke the law by not declaring it was horse meat, and I'm not justifying that. I'd hate to not know what I'm putting in to my stomach. But still, "contaminated" is a really harsh word. I don't know if anyone agrees, but this is just my opinion.

I completely agree with this.

Wow, there's horse meat in your burger. There's a body part in your burger made of body parts. You're still eating flesh, so I don't see what the big deal is here other than the fact that they lied about it, but it's fast food... What do you expect?
