I was just wondering what peoples opinion on coloured hair at school. By this I mean dyed hair. My school has a ban on it which seems silly considering it doesn't stop my education and it isn't a health and safety problem.

My old school had a band on "unnatural" colors. Blue, purple, pink, etc. They say it's because it's distracting, but my principal has actually told us that it's to help uphold our good reputation as a school. I think it's silly, but I do understand it.

They don't say anything if it's a couple streaks or just underneath or anything. They only care if it's like, a big portion of your hair. My last year there I noticed a ton of people dying their hair purple and blue underneath or wearing extensions in plain view and they never got in trouble.

My school doesn't have any kind of ban on hair, people have some crazy cuts and colours there. It's fantastic. I love when people do it, and I love they have the chance to. I would, but my hair is damaged.

I think it's stupid, if a school has a ban on colored/dyed hair.
I don't see how it offends anyone, or how it's "wrong".

I guess it's just one of those stupid rules, that has to be put up with.

Thanks for your feedback I was thinking of maybe doing something like a petition against it, many people in my school have wanted coloured hair but have been forced to get dye removal.

I see nothing wrong with colored hair. Frankly, it makes some people look really nice. I don't see why it would be banned, and it's stupid that there's a ban for your school. What's so offensive? What's wrong with it? It's not dangerous. I hope you succeed in getting rid of the ban

My headteacher and deputy headteacher are complete fascists. If everyone isn't like they want, we get in trouble.

We don't have a ban on it at my school, but I hardly ever see it where I live. I support anyone's right to express their individuality.

I've thought about doing purple myself.

My school is pathetic. We have to have natural hair colours or we get put in inclusion every day until it's dyed a different colour. People still dye their hair blonde and brown though. We get some purples, reds, blacks and a couple light blue/white. Yeah it's a big thing in my school, nothing unique about it.
I've wanted to dye my hair blue for so long but I guess I just have to wait a couple more years until I'm out.

My school didnt have a problem when i dyed my hair dark brown then I dyed it black , they did have a problem when i dyed parts of it blue ... another school in the area wouldnt have this problem but my school is 'work ready' so I was told to get rid of the blue.

Unnatural hair color is amazing. Your school.. Heh. It's more work places I'd have to watch when/where I dye my hair unnatural, because I do a lot of work with children and parents have preconceived notions about it. However it's very easy to style hair to cover the strips of color I can sneak in.

My school also has a ban on "Un-natural coloured hair." I just don't give two shits. (:

My school has no problem with varying degrees of unnatural hair. One of my closest friends had a bright red Mohawk, and changes the color frequently.

I think colored hair is fine, its part of ones personality.

My school says that you can't dye hair, but it isn't really enforced.

I went through Catholic school, so in grade school, we couldn't have our hair colored. In high school, we were allowed to have one "natural" color put in our hair if we wanted. I also work at Chick-Fil-A, and they have the same policy on it as my high school did. Personally, I love colored hair and I think policies against it are stupid and unnecessary.

My middle school had it banned when I was there, on the grounds that it was distracting and I still think it's in effect. As for the high school, our teachers have other "problems" to deal with.

I really have no problems with dyed hair.

Lots of people in my school actually have colored hair. I got bored with mine so i had mine colored too. I think it's a really cool because, as cliche as it sounds, you get to express yourself. Yay individuality! haha.

I think it's much more offensive to tell somebody that they cannot dye their hair a certain color just because you attend their school than it is for somebody to have colored hair :P

Many girls in my school dye the tips of their hair red or something if their hair's brown. I'm going to dye some of mine blue in April. April for Autism Awareness.

I actually dyed my hair purple, and I love it. It looks amazing, on both men and women. I think it's a little silly to put a ban on it. I mean it doesn't really distract people, especially if you're going from like Blonde to Black, per say.
