View Full Version : Serenade a girl

Ok, there is this girl and there is this upcoming carnival-party I would like to ask her out to so badly. She knows that I have a crush on her because I told her. But she plays like untouchable and sort of wants to be conquered. She would be my very first date though.
I know from her friend that she loves "Give Your Heart A Break" by Jordan Jansen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0blxhq-MAdc). I am not that good of a musican but I play the guitar and sing quite well I guess. So I think about serenading her this song and kind of hoping her to sing along with me ;)
I am ready and about to do it. But what's your opinion? Am I weird? Will she love it? Is it sort of tacky? Will she freak out or do girls love that in general?
Any kind of encouragement is appreciated :)

Aww it sounds so cute! *.* You should totally do that but try to be very romantic. :D And good luck buddy. :D

It's definitely tacky, but whether a good or bad tacky is up to her. Personally, if a guy did that to me, I'd have a hard time not laughing, would find it lame, and probably wouldn't go out with him because of it. But I'm not into that cheesy stuff. I'd rather a guy just ask me out very simply and not make a huge deal out of it. But she might like it, I'm sure a ton of girls like that sort of thing, especially girls your age. You know her better than me, I can't tell you how she'll react. Asking her out in public is tricky too. You could either put her under pressure and she says yes, or she doesn't mind embarrassing you and says no in front of everyone. Or it won't bother her at all and she'll yes just because she likes you. There's no telling. So take that into consideration before asking her out at a party.

Thanks for being honest. You put my fears in words

I wouldn't ask her out at a party. Being asked out... it's more of a personal, one on one with no other people around thing. If she was already your girlfriend, that would be romantic. I think that you ought to keep that idea up your sleeve for later and try a new tactic.

I think = cutest thing I've heard all day. C: There's nothing sweeter than a guy putting himself out there and feeling vulnerable to portray their romantic side. As you can see from the various replies you've gotten, she may or may not like it. I think it is really sweet, and if she's the hopeless romantic type, I've no doubt she'll love it. There's always the possibility of a negative reaction from her, so i'd advise you not to do it in front of others. Pull her aside and do it when all the fuss from the party dies down, then no one else will be around; it will just be the two of you and she won't feel pressured in front of a huge crowd. What's the worst that could happen? She'll say"no"? Well then you're back where you began. :) I say go for it.

It's a good point not to link it with the party I guess. So I will do it before. We will meet tomorrow afternoon and there will be definitely a chance to sing. She is on the romantic side so I am pretty sure she will like it. Hopefully enough to say YES.
It's right - I have nothing to lose. Yet, I am so worked up big time. Cross fingers and think about me tomorrow :whoops:

:) That sounds really good. If she's into romance, like you said, I'm sure she'll really appreciate it. Try not to psyche yourself out, do something to take your mind off of it. I've got my fingers crossed. I wish you the best of luck, and try not to be so nervous.

If she's romantic I think she will like it. And good idea doing it before. Good luck :) Let us know how it goes!

She's right, it's not a good idea. You don't need a serenade to go out with her, you are an intriguing and charming guy, aren't you?
Be self-confident and ask her out :)

I think it's a sweet thing to do....with one condition. You have to do something like that in private. Singing in front of a group, especially when you are not used to it - may cause the girl, yourself, and lots of other people around you a very awkward experience. Probable embarrassment for anyone around as well, even though people might recognize your good intentions.

Yeah, you are right :) So I am more than happy to share:
When I was on my way to her house my courage fainted with every single step. Ringing her doorbell 99.99% of my incentive were gone. I was so worked up about the whole idea and the doubts I read on VT and everything that I was about to back down.
Then she opened the door and was like "Hey Leon. I couldn't wait to see you! I am glad you are here". Her beautiful smile felt so good and warm. Then the shock "What did you bring your guitar for?" I heard me say: "I had that crazy idea to serenade you :whoops:" and she only sighed "Awwwwwwwwww". That made me unpack my guitar radio controlled. And I started to sing on her porch.
When I was done she was like "Don't stop it feels so romantic" and I got the kiss I was hoping to get for so long . I added two more songs and she was smiling and listening in silence.
I still can not believe I did it. But we are together now and it feels soooo great. I can't wait to see her this afternoon again...
