I sat
Watching the child
As she huddled in the corner
Her glasses broken in two
Her eyes red with tears
The bruises down her arms and legs
Then the scars you can’t see
The ones in her mind
The scars of words
Burned into her mind
The words of many
Every word from every mouth etched in her mind
And
So
She
Cried
