Great question, since I recently asked advice on this topic and actually talked to Jordan, my boyfriend, on the advice given to me, so here you go. I’ve thought about putting an end to my virginity, but was so afraid of it coming between something I truly cherish, and that is the happiness and love that I have.

My story is this, Jordan and I have been friends since we were like 6. We have grown very close over the years and it has slowly turned into love. It isn’t that sudden love that set off sparks and twinkles in your head. It is a love that just happened because of a close friendship, happiness, and laughter that had developed over the years.

No matters what happens between us; the one thing I do not want to lose is our close friendship. If life keeps us together, I want to always to have that friendship, and if it doesn’t, I want to have that friendship, even if we go our own ways. I will fight so hard, to the very end, not to lose that friendship. I am afraid at this age, if we introduce sex into our life, it could possibly change things, and I am not ready for that change and emotion.

I have a wonderfully great life, a very blessed life, and really all I want is to be happy and loved, and I am not ready to ever lose that. I have both, from Jordan and both of our parents, so why risk giving that away, when I am not ready for that.

I had a very good talk with Jordan, and the setting couldn’t have been better, sitting in front of our farm pond and the sun was setting. When I asked him why he hadn’t made an advance toward me, his answer was pretty typical, with “I respect you too much.” When I pried for deeper thoughts, he opened up more, and his answers were just what I needed to hear, that he was very happy with what we have, didn’t want to ruin it, wasn’t ready, and wasn’t ready to change what we have.

He asked me if that’s (sex) what I wanted and I simply replied, “no, no it’s not.” After a few tears and Jordan holding me, I told him all that had gone through my head and how strongly I felt about him. They say slow and steady wins the race, and this is a race we both want to win right now. I cherish my friendship, love, happiness and all the laughter we share to ever lose it and I’m so afraid that sex will push our relationship to a level that I’m not sure he or I am ready to face emotionally.

I am so proud of who we are and one day when it happens, I can say it was worth the wait and I know it will be a very special and happy time in our relationship. And if it never happens, then it wasn’t meant to be, but it will hopefully happens in a way that will not cost me something I never want to lose, a very close and best friend.

So with all that being said, I want to end it with a Thank You.
