Oye... Anyone else have insomnia?
If so, you know that feeling you get when you're laying in bed and no matter how comfortable you are, no matter what's going on, no matter what sleeping drug you take, you just CAN'T get to sleep? Do ya get that?
Now, personally I've never been able to sleep all that great, but recently from some unforseen occurences, I have developed a form of stress-induced insomnia. And it's tearing me apart!
I know insomnia isn't only the inability to sleep, but when I get only four hours of sleep in a three-week timespan, it can do a lot to me. Personally I love to sleep. But I just can't get it. :(
Is there any way for me to get to sleep? If so, how? I am willing to take any and all advice. Doesn't matter how weird it is.

I can honestly say I have the same issue, One of the easiest ways for me to fall asleep is to drink a lot of caffeine during the day (YES I am aware this should have the opposite effect...) Up until around 9-10 pm and then cut it out for the day sometimes the crash helps, generally I do a lot of work on my computer which also helps me via eye stress and sitting in the same position, after all that I get very uncomfortable at my desk around 2-3 am and when I go lay down I generally fall asleep after a little bit for a good few hours. I am sure another alternative is going to your doctor for a very strong prescription sleep-aid, it may be a tad more practical I also know that there are universities which do sleep studies and can help figure out 100% what the issue is which could further treatment.

That happens to me a lot on summer. I did three things to get over it:
1- quit caffeine
2- when I couldn't sleep, I just turned on the TV and watch something until I fell asleep, and if I couldn't fall asleep, I just waited until next night(without even sleeping a bit) when I'd always fall asleep
3- do something that makes you tired

Dear Kriss41,

Since it is a stressed induced insomnia I would recommend for you to seek medical help, and/or a therapist.

Some ways to help your insomnia on your own would be:
 Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and cool. Noise, light, and heat can interfere with sleep..
 Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Support your biological clock by going to bed and getting up at the same time every day, including weekends.
 Avoid stimulating activity and stressful situations before sleeping. This means no vigorous exercise; big discussions or arguments; and TV, computer, or video game use before bed.
 Limit caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine. Stop drinking caffeinated beverages at least eight hours before bed. Avoid drinking alcohol in the evening; while alcohol can make you feel sleepy, it interferes with the quality of your sleep. Quit smoking or avoid it at night, as nicotine is a stimulant (since quitting is a very stressful project, leave that till last if your insomnia does not get slightly better from the above steps)

Also a big tip would be that if you cannot fall asleep, do not stay in your sleeping environment. Tossing and Turning can lead to your anxiety levels rising and worsening your insomnia. Get up from your bed and do something relaxing like listing to calming music or reading. Also if none of the above tips work you should try and make your sleeping environment just for sleeping, doing other things like work and stressful things in the room might be causing your brain to relive the stress.

I wish the best for you and would like to hear back on how your doing. If you ever need anyone to talk to I'm here for you.
