As some of you may already know, THQ filed for bankruptcy and sold most of it's assets at auction. One developer which didn't get picked up was Vigil.
The core team still remains however and have been hired by Crytek. The sad thing is that the Darksiders series has been discontinued until further notice and may never see the gaming light again. Not sure what's going to happen to the Warhammer 40k mmo that they were creating though. I just hope that Relic can continue making Dawn of War III. Still, it is a sad day in the gaming industry, all those jobs lost, RIP THQ, RIP Vergil, you will not be forgotten.

I like the passing, bad quality games. Except Homefront. I loved that game. But I just hated THQ. I always felt like it didn't even try. I pretty much knew it would happen anyway.
neg rep initiate... <- because I know I'll be disagreed with, and people neg rep when they disagree which makes no sense.

Yes, they were. I'm pretty sure 2K Sports bought the WWE games license, though.

Isn't that the point of neg rep?

Disappointing to hear. They may not have been the greatest, but they were a big part of the gaming community.

I bet you haven't even played 90% of the games THQ published. This statement is just ignorant. Homefront was one of the WORST franchises they published. How about games like the Dawn of War franchise? Or the Darksiders franchise? How about Metro 2033? Oh, and let's not forget Warhammer 40k Space Marine! All good quality games, which you would know if you took the time to play them, or even look at some of the reviews they got. Another thing was that THQ didn't pull any of that stupid bullshit other publishers were pulling like online codes or DLC which is already on the disc. They were a great games publisher and your hatred is entirely unjustified. Not only that' it's not the publishers fault if the finished game isn't that great, the developers are to blame for that. So not only is your hatred unjustified, it's misdirected!
Regardless, it is always a sad day when large game publishers go bankrupt, no matter what, people lose their jobs and livelihoods.

I did play A LOT of them. THQ only mocked other game publishers such as infinity Ward. And made movie and tv show based games.
Not a single exception ever to be known.
Many of them you said yourself are working at Crytek. So the last paragraph is contradictory.

I actually liked THQ, why couldn't it of been EA games instead?!

EA is a much larger company more familiar with the making of video games than THQ. If EA went bankrupt, than Nintendo would probably be running out of money.

Wow, you made yourself look a right fool there:
(a) Infinity Ward isn't a games publisher, it's a game developer. Look up the difference.
(b) I failed to see how they mocked anyone, all games publishers publish crappy games at some point. It doesn't mean it's their fault.
(c) THQ didn't make the movie tie in games! THEY FUCKING PUBLISHED THEM!
(d) If you'd read my original post, it says most of the core team at Vigil, a games developer whose games were being published by THQ. So my last paragraph isn't 'contradictory' at all.

THQ had really bad leadership and a lot of corporate screw ups.

>Homefront
>good quality
lol you must have low expectations of games. THQ had great franchises.
Saints Row
Metro
Warhammer
Company of Heroes
Darksiders
You seriously think that these games, all of which have huge followings and record sales for THQ, were bad quality? Especially something like Metro 2033 or any of the Company of Heroes games? Jesus fuck that is weird, man.

Either 1, never heard of them or 2, I know they're a terrible knockoff of another game. Record sales? BS. Never heard of Company of Heroes and I've played one of the rarest RPGs from the 21st century in the US. Metro 2033 sounds like a knockoff. I thought likely of unreal tournament. But more than other FPS games.

You're an idiot. Just a plain idiot. Company of Heroes is the most complex and genre defining strategy game franchise. I don't suppose you'd like it though, you'd probably think it was a knock off of the WWII Call of Duty games. Metro 2033 was another original concept about post-nuclear apocalypse Russians living in the metro system of Moscow while defending against mutant hordes. An FPS, but also a brutal survival game.
If you haven't even heard of most of the games THQ published, don't bother posting in the thread. You also mentioned earlier THQ's movie and TV show games, which indeed were awful, but that was their business at the time; they tried to become a more serious publisher, but it just didn't work out.

Wow some people are pretty passionate about gaming on here! I'm only bothered by this cause I always remember the THQ sign flashing up on the games I used to play as a kid. It will kind of ruin the nostalgia now I know they are gone:(.

Those two I have not most others I have. If they tried, they didn't try very hard. For example ill use their titl "Frontlines"
The game was a major failure. The way it was set up and everything it was a piece of junk. But Homefront somewhat proves half your point. Thin that game they gave it all the company had. Still a commercial failure but a great game underrated because it was made by THQ. But there I digress.
Red faction, games became commercial failures.

They should have stayed with toys.
