I bougt one of these a few weeks ago to use on one of my Macbook that I use with the lid closed. Before this, I was using a mouse on got tired of it not working like it should and threw it across the room.

That night, I went to BestBuy and bought a Magic Trackpad. My God this thing is amazing. It has all the same gestures that a normal buttonless trackpad has on todays MacBooks such as swiping left to go back to a previous page in your browser or to the right to go forward. I also use tap to click so I don't ever have to press the trackpad because it is a button like the newer Macbook trackpads are.

I've had it about three weeks now is now and the battery is down to 92% according to my Mighty Monitor. I also use a Apple wireless keyboard and like the trackpad, they both connect via bluetooth. They make my life so much easier by freeing up my USB ports to use for other things like syncing iPod/iPhone.

You can also download a free utility called better touch tool that works with the Magic Trackpad that can add so many more functions such as touching a corner to pause a song in iTunes, three finger swipe upwards to turn up the volume and so much more!

I use a 24" Samsung monitor with my MacBook with the lid closed as my entertainment center. It's connected to my stereo also! I have another Macbook that I use for everyday use.

I highly recommend the Magic Trackpad!

I still prefer a mouse. I understand a touchpad is necessary on a laptop because of space but I don't see why anyone would buy one to use with their desktop computer. The Magic Mouse is a good mouse that lets you use gestures.
