I think everyone here will agree: We need to raise awareness about bullying.
If you had the power to stop the bullying that happened to you from happening to someone else, you would.
How can we raise awareness about this?
Prevention is better than a cure.
We need our family and friends to become more aware before it's too late.

I agree, you have your heart set in the right place.
I've been thinking off and on about making some form of blog or video. The only issue is I don't know how to get it seen...
But we do need to make it more widely known. My parents didn't think my bullying experience was that bad till I sat down with them and really, REALLY discussed it with them. I'll see what I can do about my blog/video/... Thing. :)

I don't disagree with you in any way but Bully awareness seems to be not be being raised by any of the events. Few bullys exist but like anywhere you can never fully rid of them. What I'm trying to say is Bully Awareness is as high as it could be it seems. Schools talk about it all the time and videos are all over the internet about it and even the news has the odd bully prevention video. But what do they really do people know what they can do for themselves and friends and some do it and some don't. Bully awareness day has degraded into a wear orange day which is sad when you think about it. I hope you may come up with a good way to help this horrible issue.

That is very true, that's why we wanna do something about it. For me I really want bullying to end because of how terribly I was treated in school. There really is not excuse for bullies, and schools, parents, teachers, and other students really need to take charge. I do agree, though, a lot has already been done. But even when it seems to be at it's peak, there is always something that can push it higher.

I have an idea. A video. Long story. I think a video would be better. Much better. But a blog is good to. A blog where people submit their stories. Each blog entry is someone's story. We could have a thread just for it. So we can get permission.

I agree, it would be great if we could just raise awareness and make everyone be nice to each other but the reality is that it's never going to happen. I'm on the anti-bullying committee at my school, I've made videos and created presentations about all the different types of bullying and what it can do to people, I've been to my county's anti-bullying conference representing my school and no matter what we tell people, they won't take any notice.

I've been bullied since year 2, so 8 years now. By one person, groups of people, boys, girls, 'friends', family. It never stops. I try and keep out of the spotlight but still they always find a way to get at me. It's great you're trying to do something but don't but all your hopes into it happening to no one else because it will. That's not just me being a pessimist, I'm being a realist. People won't understand the consequences of bullying until it's too late and even then, they might not stop.

I agree. Thats how my life has been like. But I think if we get REAL people on the forum to submit their REAL stories that we can improve the situation. ON this forum, we have suicide attempt survivors. We have people who have been depressed. We have self harmers. If we get these people to tell Their stories, maybe we can raise awareness not just for bullying, but for suicide, self-harming, depression, abuse and other things. Before I came on this forum, I had a closed mind. I didn't understand why people self-harmed or commited suicide. I didn't understand depression. And I think other people are like that too. They have never been personally exposed, so they don't know. But we can show them. We can show them that we are the ignored victims. We are just normal people, who others don't understand.

I'm starting a blog. I'm gonna post in all the psychiatric ward subforum's to ask people to submit their story to go on this blog. I might make a facebook page instead.
