I sat there
Looking
Just watching
Every bone in my body urging me to do something
But I had done all I could
I watched as she gripped the blade
The scalpel, sinking it deep, deep into her arm
I heard her scream
The scream of a tortured soul, of a misunderstood being,
Of a child of hell. A hell no child should ever endure
I saw the red liquid trickle from her arm
Slowly, like water dripping from a tap, it flowed
Trickling off her arm
If only
I
could
stop
her
