*Long Story Alert*

I've had my eyes on this girl for a long time, but didn't spend too much time thinking about her because I thought she was way out of my league. She's perfect, and I couldn't think of a better girl to call mine. But because I thought she was out of my league, I didn't talk to her too much and started to focus on other girls.

But a few days ago I was at my brother's basketball game and this girl's best friend came up to me and said there were some girls asking about me for prom (mid April). She named two that I wasn't interested in, but the third one was her. I was so excited, but tried not to show it and tried to keep my cool.

I've seen her at school since then, and I've been trying to talk with her a little more, and I think she likes it. But now I'm looking to take it to the next level, if only because I don't want to lose her to somebody else for prom.

I'm not sure how fast/slow I shoud go with her though. I know her, but not that well. Should I take her out to a restaurant, or is that too formal for a first date? I want something where we can talk and interact, because I want to know more about her.

So basically my question is: How should I go about this? I really, REALLY like her, and am trying not to screw this up.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First thing: noone is out of your league.

If you want to go to the restaurant with her and if you feel self-confident doing this, you can try. However for the first date I advice you to think about something easier.

If you want to do that as a first date, and you're comfortable doing so, do it. There's no point doing something you aren't comfortable with. You aren't taking it too fast, I'm assuming you're going to ask her to prom, if you haven't, you should do that. Just keep talking, see how it flows and go from there. So far, it seems you're doing okay!
