Why do so many teens in their late teens act like they are old?
I mean seriously i'm probbaly the only one I know of that acts their age ,every other teen i have met moans and groans and carries on about how they are so old.
I mean whats with my fellow teens acting like old farts?
When did 18,19 year olds qualify as old duffers?
heck I have a cousin thats 40 but acts 23,so why can't teens act their ages isntead of moaning "i'm so old ,because 19"?
maybe we should just put them in an old folks home!

Wait. What? Act their age? What's the problem with 19 year olds acting like mature adults with a leveled head? Or do you mean having pain and stress?
Would you like some of my peers? They act their age it seems, you know, idiot teens who believe they're invincible and #YOLO.
Here's what's happened since our graduation in June 2012.
-5 boys have gotten into a drunken accidents, and died instantly. 3 of them killed their girlfriends in their drunken driving, 1 of the girls survived and had her legs amputated. One was a father and his son's dead too.
- One boy strung out on coke died by falling off a 12th story landing.
- 2 boys have gone to jail for being stupid and stealing and doing property damage.
- 6 girls have been busted for parties/drug possession/ revoked licenses/gotten some STDs to make PSAs about on FB/burned their homes in a high/drunken stupor
- We got 6 girls expecting their first/second child and dunno who the baby daddy is #YOLO
- 1 girl drowned trying to prove she could give blowjobs under water in the pool. The boy involved is currently being charged for manslaughter.
- Another girl is going back to rehab and say "lol shit don't work. Hit me up with that stuff when I get free guys ; )"
I myself would rather hangout with the 19 year olds moaning and groaning about their age and acting older, than the ones who seem to have a penchant for jail and death. My graduating class was huge, over 1,000 or so, but with how they keep going, we'll be out of them soon.

What's wrong with people acting like mature adults? And did you ever think that maybe you're the one not acting your age? Perhaps rather than them being more mature than "normal" You're more immature. Just something to think about.
But like FreeFall said, i'd rather not be with the ones who are getting arrested, pregnant or dying all the time. I had my time to do all that crazy shit when I was 13-16. I'm well over it by now, even if it does mean missing out on hanging out with some of my friends because I'm not interested in the stupid shit they're doing.

I admit, I do this. I mean ....really act like an old person, specifically an old man. :3 I hate when music is played too loud, I don't like crowds and I like old shows and movies (like Good Times, Cheers, The Partridge Family). What? I can't help it.
I can't speak for everyone my age, but I'm not big on the party scene or anything of the sort. I'm a homebody. My friends and sisters are the complete opposite though, so I doubt there are that many that act this way. And I have morals and self-respect I abide by.

Damn, I do act pretty freaking old despite sometimes (Quite often) acting mentally immature. Like Illicitus and Melissa; my girlfriend. I don't like parties all that much and much prefer sitting in a quiet room with one or two people than to a room full of people. I did all the stupid crap most teenagers do now before I was thirteen, and although I dislike not being out being stupid with old friends sometimes in the end I'm really glad I'm not. Like FreeFall's post suggests; doing that crap has consequences, even if your not a complete peenard. Act how you want to act mate, but people will always act in different ways and you can be damn sure that the people you complain about have an issue with the way you act too. Spoken or not.

If you haven't noticed, teen years are the hardest years of your life. Everyone will tell you so. You go through so much transition and put up with so much shit.
Personally, after being taken advantage of by people I thought were my friends, after boys and men treating me like shit, after dealing with anxiety, depression, apathy, short highs and long lows;
Well, I have the right to feel about 200 years old.
In the space of 20 years you begin to experience things, some you wish you hadn't.
I know we're all different, but people go through things in their teens that make them feel like they've been around a hell of a long time.

let them do what they want, if you don't like it, murder them or ignore them.

Some teens just like to act like mature adults, nothing wrong with that.
Let them do what they want...

Probably because nobody seems to like teenagers acting immature and teenager like so they decide to act like the people who get popularity in a mature crowd aka. Mature People

Because that's how life works. When people get older, they mature in their mentality. Look at what FreeFall has pointed out. I can say almost the exact same thing about graduates in my area, because they all pull the same shit. There's nothing wrong with leveling yourself mentally and acting your age.
You shouldn't act like a 12 or 13 year old when you're nearing legal drinking age. That's just BEGGING for shit to be thrown at you. It's fine to be a bit immature and take youth in for what it's worth, but when that becomes your defining attitude, you're going to get whatever comes to you.

He's right, it depends what you define kid too, I hate the underclassmen in my school, I find myself along with most others my age much calmer than the young hyper kids, that being said I really can't believe what happened to some of freefalls classmates though

People I am not talking about them acting mature.
I do not know where you got that idea at. It was plan that I mean acting OLD like as in they are 90 and ready for the retirement home.
Please explain to me how you people got something totally diffrent then what I was sayiong out of what I was saying!

See you are the person so far that got what I meant.
I mena we are teens we are supposed to be enjoying life and living, but to me it seems so many act like 90 year old duffers ready for the old folks prison.

Experiencing things is very tiring, like Dunce said. Maybe they already enjoyed life as much as they can at this point. I have. Maybe when I'm an adult, living on my own with a car, being able to go out, I'll feel like it again. But as of now, I've already done everything I can do as a teen. Some of it good, some bad, and honestly, it's exhausting. I'm burned out on that life. I'm tired. My mom teases me because she, a 55 year old woman, often has more energy than me, a 17 year old. I complain about my back hurting too, and all that crap. I do feel old sometimes, physically and mentally.
Or maybe that's just the kind of person they are, like Bridgette. I'm sure they have their reasons.

I've always been this way though. There was never a turning point or age that I just thought I'm going to act this way because I'm tired, or 18, or expected to act this way. This is just part of who I am, I was similar when I was younger. I have an "old soul", I guess. Remember that your definition of "enjoying life", isn't everyone's. There are plenty of people out there perfectly happy partying, and then there are those that would like nothing more than to curl up with a good book. Let people be themselves. No one is questioning why you act the way you do.

I don't know! Probably because they are lazy and want to feel older! Reason for laziness is because of technology that it traps us to sit around and play on it all day instead of getting active and go play all day, or we are just that lazy. And feeling older part, well as we are young adults, we want to be treated that way instead of being treated like kids. Both of these things are just a teenager thingy!

By whose standards?
If someone's idea of living life and enjoying themselves is sipping herbal tea curled up in a blanket, so be it. If they'd rather sit in and stare at the walls than go to parties, so be it.
Don't like that life? Don't live it.

Personally I've always acted older.
It's just part of experience. Some teens deal with a lot of crap in their lives, and they get screwed so bad it matures them. Others, it's just their nature. Others like the idea of having half a brain.
Above all, though, it's their choice. If a 15-year-old wants to act mature, let them. If a 20-year-old wants to act immature, let them. It's all in how they wanna be. :3

because around late teens, it still feels strange to think about how much time has passed in your life, especially since childhood is when you grow and change most.
however further into adulthood youve gotten use to it, so you just live.

Point is, either way, you can be the adventurous wild and free teen spirit while they stay inside like an old duffer. Don't like it, don't bother them. Go find more exciting teen minded people and leave them sit with their tea and malt shop music.
