Ok a freind of mine gave me a weightlifting question, and a set of perimeters it was within and asked me and sevreal other freinds to solve .
I was the only one to solve it.

I am passing it on to you as it was given to me to see if and how you solve it!

Ok here it is:

1) you only have two barbells and a squat rack to workout with. The barbells are the old fashioned thick handled globe style used by the 19th century strong men.The lightest one weighs 150 pounds, the heaviest one weighs 200 pounds

2) you are only strong enough to use the the 150 pound barbell and you can only do the following exercsies:

Squat, deadlift, clean and press, clean and jerk, and the power clean

3) Ok you are in prison so these are the only weights you have access too at all.

How do you make yourself strong enough to go from the 150 pound barbell to the using the 200 pound barbell

It can be done but YOU have to figure it out,I already know how it can be done.

Sadly no.

I'll wait for a few more answers before I reveal the solution!

And you've got no idea on how to solve it and get to where you can workout with that 200 pound bar do you? :p

Ok seeing as no one can solve it.

I'll explain how to do it.

Ok first off the barbells are of the type uuse by the 19th century strongmen, with a thick back and globes at the end of it,so you can't go up in poundages to build your strength up to where you can go from the 125 pound bar to the 200 pound bar.
So what to do?

Solution(using the squat as an example):

You work with a certian amount of reps for for 6 weeks 15 to be exact, then you slowly work upward in reps after the first 6 weeks toward a target rep say 60 reps.

Then when you hit 60 reps, the next workout you will take the 200 pound barbell and test yourself with it to see how many reps you can do with it,and that will be you're starting reps in the squat with the 200 pound bar.

No that may sound like BS to you,but the fact is walking into a 19th century gym,the globe style barbells didn't jump up gradually in weight by 5 or 10 pound increases.

many times they where 25 or more pound jumps, and thats who people would train to prepare for the next barbell.

ain't that what more or less everyone does at the gym? workout with one weight untill they can lift the next?

only difference is that you make a bigger jump in weight.

Yes i do lift,i just never heard the term before.

Most people are so used to the modern plate loaded barbells and dumbbells AND the principle of Progressive Resistance in which you add small amounts to the bar as your strength increases, that they think the way I meantioned going up in weight with larger jumps in weight is impossible!

I Totally don't lift.

Well you need too:P
