View Full Version : Fighting porn "addiction"

to start off, I want to explain that I don't truly have a porn "addiction". It's not like I'm glued to my computer constantly watching porn. But every so often (sometimes it's once a day, sometimes once every 2-3 days, sometimes once a week) I find myself watching porn and masturbating, even if I had promised myself that I would stay away from it. It's not like its causing issues with my social life, but I just feel that watching porn is wrong, and yet I can't stop myself.
I'm wondering if any of you had ideas for how I could help myself stay away from watching porn (by the way, I realize that it is normal for many people, and I know that some of my friends do watch it and some of them don't). Do you have any helpful tips?

This is the same situation for me dude. The way I can control myself to stop watching porn is I pretend that I don't like and find it disgusting. That really works and I haven't watched any porn in a couple of weeks.

I'd say one tip is to not be on the computer around the time you normally j/o so you don't get the urge to. For me it's usually around 12am, when everyone is asleep. Another idea is to completely ditch the computer, which is probably not worth it to some people.

I don't know why you wouldn't want to watch porn, especially in moderation like you seem to do!
I am not in the same mind set as you obviously, so I'm not sure I can help you much, sorry.
I guess just keep yourself away from the computer......Idk.

Maybe instead of trying to quit porn cold turkey you can gradually stop using it. It seems like you are pretty all right on how much porn you watch, and if you can knock down a day a week until you are at zero, then you will be all right.
I think on days that you don't jack off to porn when you were tempted to do so you should reward yourself. Like what I mean is do something fun (non sexual) to let yourself know you did a good job. If you end up jacking off to porn, then put some money in a jar and give it away to some charity as a physical reminder to stay with your goal.

You maybe have to ask yourself - why watch porn.
Then you can seek to change - but meanwhils dont beat your self up about.
Is it easier to feel aroused with porn or just habit now.
If you really feel the urge to watch porn then try and just divert yourself.

Just try to stop once. Just one time without watching it. Then keep going every time you want to. Just cut it cold. It will be frustrating sometimes, but it will get easier

The first thing that you should do is not to think of it. The more you think of it you will not get rid of it. Make yourself busy by playing sports or doing good things to other people. Just let yourself busy all the time. Believe me it works.
