The Penny(my best friend)

so... idk if its the same in every country but anyways in canada the penny will be removed from our money system as of february 4th.... and store counters or banks will no longer accept them... instead now there will be extra charges to round to the nearest 5 cent increment... grocery store prices will go up... cigarettes... basically everything just to avoid that one cent increment..

so those who live in canada how do you feel about this change?
and those not in canada what do you think about the penny... do you hate it.. is it useful to your economy?

I find it pretty useless for the most part. And it's not like the price is going up that much lol. No more than 4 cents. But here most of our stuff is either --.-4 or --.-9. I think it would be nice. I hate getting pennies back when buy something. I have zero use for them unless I just hoard them for a few years and get maybe $15 out of it, if I'm lucky.

I'd keep the penny, I can practice my coin spinning skills with them, if have have any penies you don't want, just give them to me so I can spin them. :P

lol actually one day a cashier gave me 2 cents back when I was grocery shopping for my mom, one penny was canadian I just switched it out with another and kept the canadian one :P The cashier obviously didn't pay attention to what he/she was given earlier

We will probably change the metal we make pennies with, people are starting to melt down whatever copper they can to make money.

I hate them. They're useless and impractical. Also, they cost more than one cent to make, so the government was actually losing money by making them.

Pennies (at least in the US), are known to be basically worthless and a waste of money.
For one, it takes more than a penny to make a penny (~1.4 cents or something), so we're losing money there. Also, nobody actually uses them for anything. You rarely see anyone paying for anything with pennies.

I disagree pennies are practical ,and their are people advocating for the removal of pennies here in the USA.

Heck why not just take everyones cash put it into once central bank and switch to a global credits system which would be as stupid in my opinion.

I was inferring that stopping the production of pennies a valid form of currency is just stupid,because rounding things up in price means you have to pay a bit more and i'm like scrooge with my money I don't want to part with more of it just because some jerkwad somewhere gets this idea " hey peeps lets do away with the penny"!


Also I am not for a global credit system of money,I am very much a Nationalist,and think individual nations should have "their" own money!
