8, since it's newer, has more features, and is much cheaper.

I've never used 8. So I guess it's 7, by default.

I want to say to anyone who thinks 8 is just the metro theme, you can change it to a regular desktop.

I prefer 7 for the time being since 8 has issues with 3rd party developers right now. When/if those problems get resolved, I will consider upgrading, but for the time being, 7 is superior unless you're only using "standard" programs.

Always going for the older windows... Rooting for windows 2000.
Windows 7 wins by default because its older, and features are more accessible.

Windows 7. Not sure if I like the Windows 8 look much. The tiles look cool...but if I ever change it, it'll take some time to get used to it.

Alright, Windows 8 is great! I love the new approach being taken with the UI and such. The only problem is that they are trying to keep part of the old UI...If you really want to revinvent your whole company, try taking a bit of a bigger risk. I think this ruined a lot of Win8 potential (not to say its not there, we all know this'll either blow over *cough* vista *cough* or something will happen and people will start warming up). And to go with the latter statement in those lovely parentheses, pretty much all the new laptops/computers are coming out with Win8. Most of my friends don't bother to change it, they're all young people who have grown with technology, can't be too hard to pick something else up. I just hope Microsoft doesn't take any more big risks for a bit, having consistency is important without becoming stale. Right now I would personally pick Windows 7 because I don't want to feel like being forced to use an "old" UI in a new enviroment. (Kinda beats the purpose of a new OS). Well Microsot had to make some choices of what to keep and what to add, so hopefully all goes well. I really don't see Linux becoming the "new windows" because of the kind of stigma it has for being a nerdy/complicated thing. And Mac users can go clean Starbuck's windows. (Seewatididthar)

I use Windows 7 right now, but I like Windows 8 better. My brother's new laptop has Windows 8 and he hates it. I can see why, but I figure once you learn how to use it, it's better.

YES. When the price to upgrade was only $40, it wasn't that bad, but I miss 7. :(

8 wins hands down.

Performance equal or better than Windows 7
Uses less Memory and CPU
Takes up roughly the same hard drive space
Boots up WAY faster than 7 without needing an SSD
GPU-independent multi-monitor support.
Standard 3D Display support

Overall, Windows 8 is just Windows 7 but done better and faster. Oh and with a fancy, new, full-screen start menu.

Windows 7...It's more Windows-like. Windows 8 is so unneeded, all of those tiles are really confusing. I wouldn't mine a Nokia Lumia 920...but it's not something that should be on a computer.
