How to tell a guy that I like him?

So there's this guy. He's a junior, one year older than me in school. I really like him and we're really good friends. He's incredibly funny, and sweet, and one of the few people that I really care about. I feel like I trust him a lot. We have a mutual love of making and watching movies and theatre. I have theatre class with him, and I've been thinking about asking him to my sophomore cotillion.

Trouble is, I'm not really sure if he's interested in me as more than a friend. I like him a lot. He's really hard to read. My question is, what's the best way to go about this? Should I just not say anything? I want him to know how I feel, but I don't want to lose him as a friend or have our friendship be awkward.

Is he talking about girls he likes or do you never hear him talking about that?

You could try and flirt a little bit, try to see if he reacts. Not to much at first, just see how everything goes. If he reacts to your flirting, you can tell him how you feelings about him are.
