It's not a big deal at all. The most pain you'll feel is the novacaine shots, which are dulled by the gel. Your jaw might get sore too, from holding it open for an hour or so, but again, that's it. Afterwards it'll be sore, but that's why you have pills.

Basically, all he does it isolate the tooth with a rubber sheet thing, to keep it dry, then drills into it (but you don't feel a thing) and files down the nerves so it doesn't hurt too much after and so it doesn't get infected again. Then he fills it and puts your temporary crown on, then in a few weeks, he cements the permanent one.

I've had two, the biggest problem i had was my jaw being really sore, and my crown coming off. Make sure you don't chew on that side of your mouth for at least a day, and after that only really soft food on that side.

You have nothing to be worried about. People make it sound so scary, but it really isn't. If it weren't for hearing the tools, I wouldn't have even known he was doing anything to my tooth.

ok thanks.. so there shouldnt be any need for me to ask for gas.. to knock me out... ive seen it done on the bottom row of the teeth but in this case mine is on the top.. and the pills are penicillin. are these pain killers?
