Problems Downloading

ok, i'm no good with computers at all, i don't know how to do anything really! but when ever i try to download something, it never really works, like it downloads and i can see the file, but thats it, no matter what i download, it always shows like the itunes symbol thing, and i cant use it, even if im downloading music, it will show as the itunes thing, but its not in itunes, i really dont know whats going on, i would tell you the spec of my laptop, but i dont even know what it is, its on windows 7 though.:confused:

theres not really much to show, what ever i download, in my folders it says its a itunes file

What are you downloading?
What application?
Where are you downloading from?
(ITunes store, a random website, etc.)
...

Edit: hmmm... try a right click and select "open with" and select what you want.
Or try "Open As".

Chances are because you have itunes set as your default application to handle music files. In order to add a particular file to itunes, you must "import" it or whatever it's called nowadays(I haven't used that dreadful crap for about 3 years now). Only then will it show up in itunes.
