well they say when a writer is blocked they should just that thier mind off the writing fpr a while and do something that they love and the things will just flow to you .so just try it

go relax because the more you think about it the less natural the lyrics will be as you will be forcing them in a way.
i wish i could write songs, but i can never find inspiration or think of the right things.

I write songs for my band, and have done for many bands and really my advice just depends on your writing process because writing lyrics to music is completely different to writing music for lyrics.
If its just lyrics that you want to focus on then obviously choose a subject matter that you can relate to and portray it. Obviously it has to be something that you can empathise with otherwise you just sound hollow. I do it this way because in my experience writing on impulse has never really worked too good because you are stuck to a set time frame which is how long the impulse lasts and once its gone its hard to recreate.
once you've chosen a subject just start penning out some words that go well together, they don't have to rhyme just as long as you can put some form of melody to them they'll be fine and make sure that what your writing is something that your wiling to be identified with. If its not then there is no point writing it unless its a collaboration.
one last thing, never force it, if its not working then move on or ask someone else to look at it as well, they could come up with a fresh angle that gives you lots to play with.
well thats what I do, I hope this helps.
