JLS have been crowned Britain's hardest-working band in 2012 after headlining more major concerts than any other artists.

The boy band performed 34 UK shows in the last year, securing the four-piece the title for the second year in a row.

PRS for Music is the organisation which collects royalties on behalf of songwriters.

JLS said: "We're delighted to once again be crowned the hardest-working band of the year. 2012 has been an awesome 12 months for us and it means a lot that so many of our fans have had a chance to see us perform live. Thanks again for the support and we look forward to doing more in 2013."

PRS for Music spokesman Barney Hooper said: "JLS have once again demonstrated that they truly know how to engage with their massive fan base, performing live to as many of them as possible.

"Gigging is as important for the biggest performers as those starting out and it's great to see that it is thriving in the UK.

"Congratulations to all the performers and their supporting songwriters who have together created the music that so many of us enjoy."

Westlife played 31 arena gigs and were runners-up in the list compiled by the PRS for Music.

Come-back kings Steps made it to third place with 25 concerts and Olly Murs (21) and Florence + the Machine (17) completed the top five.

2012 may have been a sell-out year for One Direction but the US favourites only managed 12 gigs on home turf.

What a load of absolute bollocks. I bet these guys don't know what hard work is. The music industry sucks nowadays.

LOL Americans. You guys make me laugh.

Wow JLS are old time now, 2009 I think, maybe '10. That's bullshit though, I bet they do nothing. Their lyrics are crappy, "Oh I love you blah blah loads of people are going to buy this crap" stuff and I didn't even know they had fans still. After One Direction everyone kind of forgot about them.

How they got 'famous'. They're 2008, damnnn.

Their first hit. When I was 10 I learnt all the words to this crap, how sad. Or you might know that other one.

Damn, they fucking suck. And I agree, from what I can tell, their lyrics are pretty shitty.
Boy bands suck.

I understand the UK is small compared to, say, the US, but... Since when is 34 shows in a year "a lot"? And how long were these shows, 90 minutes max?

I bet they work almost as hard as a block of wood does being a fucking block of wood.

Any classical musician that has to study their material or a composer or who has to write their own music.. That's hard fucking work. Really, there's gajillions of musicians that tour ten times as much as forty concerts in a year.. and the craziest part is they probably have 1/100,000,000 of the money that a fucking boy band does. A popular boy band goes to their sold out stadium, has all their technology put out and plugged in for them, they sing, leave. They don't have to drive around in a sweaty smelly truck with their material and plug all that in themselves. These fuckers know nothing about hard work. And I could go on but my balls itch a bit.

I usually try not to say this about bands because I know every band has fans, but JLS suck ass.
