Why is it that if I'm on VT but then have been away for a couple of minutes, I have to login again? Surely you can keep someone who's idle logged in for 30 min b4 logging them out?

When you're signing in tick the box that says "remember me" before you click enter.

As Nikki said, there's a little box right next to the login fields that says "remember me" and if you click in it then it will automatically log you in each time you open it.

mine does that sometimes but only if that check box "remember me" isnt clicked
try and click on that before signing in and it should keep you logged in
however if you are inactive for a certain amount of time your session will time out and you will have to log back in.. even if that box is checked.... atleast thats been my experience

Never happened to me. I always keep it ticked and every time I shut down my laptop, when I start it up again VT is always logged in.

yeah its ticked on mine but if im inactive for like 20 minutes or when i shut down my laptop it logs me out...

Probably depends on the computer you're on then. It kind of defeats the object of the "remember me" button if it's making you log in again.

There is a 30 minute idle period before the site logs you out. However, in regard to the "keep me logged in" option, if you clear all of your browsing history/cookies/cache then the server will have no way of recognizing your computer. That feature works by saving a cookie in your browser and every time you visit the site on that computer -- when that cookie is deleted then it has no way to keep you logged in because it doesn't know who "you" are.
