I'm not gay, but here's what I know. No one 'wants' to be gay, it's not a conscious choice. And although most straight folk are happy/relieved to be straight, they too didn't make a choice. It's just who you are, there are alot of opinions out there that try to explain how one gets to be straight or gay, but the bottom line is that no one really makes a choice.

People do not usually choose to be gay, although I think you could technically choose to be bisexual. I've explained this at least twice. This is my theory: You are born with both homosexuality and heterosexuality programmed into your brain. One is more prominent than the other. And then through both social and sexual interactions with people of the opposite sex or same sex, you slowly develop your true sexuality and learn what you are. I don't think anyone is born gay or straight, but you probably are slightly attracted to one gender more than the other when born. Be aware of the fact that to be homosexual you must be EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY attracted to someone of the same sex, in order to be bisexual you must be EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY attracted to both sexes, and in order to be heterosexual (straight) you must be EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY attracted to the opposite sex. In my theory, after many experiences throughout adolescence you discover who you are emotionally and physically attracted to (although you could probably know your sexuality as early as 5).

I agree with everything said in this thread. It's not really a choice. Your predilection of who to like is set in your DNA (I think?). And many people can go years (past puberty) not knowing to whom they are really attracted to.

Well I will answer about being gay, because I have a bit of experience in that area.

You can see your female friends unchange
You can go lingerie shopping with your female friends
You are the topic of conversations
You can listen to shit music and have a perfectly good reason thats acceptable to anyone for listening to it
You can dance and enjoy yourselfSuch general sweeping sterotyping but hey I could have rattled on about genetics and there is no choice, but I went light hearted.
