Mixing Sculpting with Graphic Design

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to this question...

Can you mix clay and graphic design without tracing your design onto the clay?

That wouldn't work. I need to apply the graphic art onto the ceramic piece. Without tracing and without glazing. I have to apply it on to the clay. I'm stumped :/

Stencil it, maybe? You'll need glazes of the right colour, but it's doable. Just make sure you apply lots of glaze, otherwise it wont show.'
