I have a class presentation in a few days, and I always get nervous and start to shake heavily when I present. It's embarrassing. Are there any ways to stop and prevent this? My friend recommended Vitamin B-12 but I'm not sure what that is or if it works.

It may sound stupid but I use controlled breathing to relax.
also If the teacher asks for volenteers to go first try to get up there as soon as possible to get it over with.

Yeah, i'm like that too.
Just concentrate on your presentation, nothing else.
I've noticed that helps me.
Try to convince yourself to stay calm, and like I said, just focus on giving your presentation, and block everything else out of your mind.

Haha that was my thinking as well. Just think of them being in a more vulnerable state than you, the underwear one should make the situation a little more light hearted at least. The deep breaths before you go out is also a good suggestion, don't let yourself get too worked up or over think things, just go for it.

Practice. The more you practice, the easier it will be. Tell yourself that you can do it, and you will probably do better. Try some breathing exercises before you present, to hopefully calm down. When you present, don't worry about the audience. Just get it over with. Lastly, don't bother with vitamin B12, it won't do anything. Unless you're deficient in it, you don't need to take extra.

I take a sec to say something funny as soon as I get up there to lighten the mood. :D

Just breathe deeply, and smile. When I had to do my English GSCE presentation in front of the class, I was going to go last but instead I put my hand up and volunteered to go first. I just smiled and made everyone laugh with a few comments then continued. When the audience is relaxed you feel more relaxed.

practice in front of just one or two people in the class that you can talk to one on one. then when you do it for real in the class, only focus on the one person that you have already done it in front of when you practiced. don't think about anyone else just deliver the presentation to that one person and never mind that the rest of the class is also watching it. that's what i do. i figure it's better to lose a couple points for not having eye contact with everyone than to lose a whole lotta points for passing out in the middle of it

If you are presenting a powerpoint and are allowed to move around, move around the classroom. It hides the fact that you would be shaking, while looking like you are engaging the entire classroom.

Easiest and most effective way for me, (i do this before all my presentations that i do infront of the medical stafff [rounds] before our patients are dicharged [im trainng as an RN at the momment, i want to become a surgeon] and also before every concert in orchestra, or just simple stuff such as interviews or small presentations for class. JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES, AND TAKE 3 DEEP BREATHS. And when ever you feel like you are gettin shaky or something; just slow down and take a deep breath.

I always used to be a horrible public speaker then suddenly about a forth of the way through 8th grade I just wasn't nervous anymore. I guess it was the fact that I didn't care what anyone else thought. Try relaxing and concentrating on the presentation throw some humor in there if possible it worked for me when I gave a speach in front of the entire school.

Me, I try to forget where I am. I think only that I'm saying. But, maybe it works only with me. I don't know. Hum, I look the wall in front of me, it shouldn't look our friends. ^^

My Dad taught me this trick. If there's a stand or a podium or something up front, grab it with both hands and hold onto it.

Concentrate on yourself and on what you're going to say :)

A lot of people don't like to present in front of a group of people. In this day and age of increasing narcissism that maybe hard to believe but you are not alone.
I would suggest what many people have already suggested, which is to practice in front of a few people. If those people are students which are in the same class you are then even better, because when you get up there to present you can just focus on them ( generally) and maybe that will make you feel a little more comfortable.
I also would agree that if you are able to move around a little, that may relax you, it won't seem so formal and lastly, as hard as it maybe simply don't care what other people think, with the exception of the teacher of course. Perhaps you try blocking everyone else out except the teacher.
Just some advice for future presentations.

I make eye contact with people and smile as I'm presenting. This has the effect of creeping them out, which amuses me, which makes it easier for me to relax. Or I just imagine frolicking in a field of sunshine and rainbows, but that has been less effective.
EDIT: Vitamin B-12 is found in fish oil and helps make you sleepy...I'm not sure why you'd use that to present!

I find it easier I look beyond the people you are speaking to rather than directly into their eyes. It calms me down a bit.

LOL screw those supplements. The reason you get nervous and shake is that you are outside your comfort zone. Sounds cliche, but the more you do it, the better you get at it. I would recommend engaging in relaxation techniques prior to presentation to calm you down. For ex, breathing, imagery and positive self talk.
